It’s location worked for me
The second floor stunk like a dirty diaper. My room had a heavy musty smell. Water pressure was terrible, the hot water barely had enough pressure to clear the shower head. Breakfast bar was terrible waffles and mini muffins. Ran out of coffee and could find staff.
The staff was friendly. Location is great. Close to food, shopping, an it felt kind of central between Tropic Falls, the dolphin tour we took at the marina, and the beach.
I stayed at the Sleep Inn in Foley, Alabama from April 6–April 9 with two friends while we brought our kids down for a short vacation. We booked three separate rooms, and unfortunately, the experience was very inconsistent and, at times, frustrating.
My room had a strong, unpleasant odor that seemed like it was coming from the drain—possibly sewage-related. The smell never went away during the entire stay. The room itself felt very worn down: fixtures were old and rusted, the walls were visibly dirty, and even the outside of the tub needed cleaning. One of the queen beds had a large hole in the sheet, which was unacceptable. The floors (which were not carpeted) also appeared like they hadn’t been mopped in quite some time.
One of my friends had an even worse start—she had to switch rooms immediately after check-in because the first one was filthy and had a strong odor. Her second room was only slightly better, and she ended up cleaning it herself just to feel comfortable.
Housekeeping was inconsistent. My room was serviced on the second day—trash was taken out and towels were replaced—but the beds were not made. Meanwhile, my friend’s room was not serviced at all. When she asked about it, she was told housekeeping comes every other day. However, that explanation didn’t make sense since my room had just been serviced. She was given extra towels, but no one ever came to clean her room or remove trash during the stay.
On our last night, when she went to request more towels, she was told the hotel had run out. It’s hard to understand how a hotel runs out of towels, especially when the laundry area is visible right behind the front desk.
Breakfast was also very limited. The options were mostly bread-based—bagels, sliced bread, and waffles. There were no protein options like eggs or meat, which was disappointing for families trying to start the day. There was yogurt though so I guess that’s the protein.
Mrs. Doreen is amazing. Very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. She definitely elevates my experience.
The room floors cleanliness could be better.
Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. We enjoyed the apples, cereal, bagels, and yogurt. Plus the coffee was good, too!
No I didn’t like it
Shemarie , at the front desk, was the only person who seemed to care about our stay. Very nice!
The room smelled real bad, like urine. The odor of pot was in the hall outside our room.
The TV didn't work in our room, even after troubleshooting with front desk.
The carpet was threadbare in places, the paint was patched everywhere.
Cracks in the seams by the door frames.
Minimum toiletries given, no bottled water unless you purchased it downstairs.
Got a FLAT tire in the parking lot where the speed bump was so damaged, the BOLTS holding it in place were not secured!!!
Breakfast was definitely continental, no protein offered.
One guest had to get up and move while eating because the staff started mopping all under his feet! Staff never apologized or spoke to the guest, I guess because the staff was from india.
Upon checking out, when asked how our stay was, And I explained how terrible it was, all I was told was "I'm sorry"!!
I booked through Booking.com and the room was $237!!! What a ripoff!! For this price I expected A much cleaner environment/ better everything!!
