A gem of a hotel, very good selection of food , excellent staff, very clean ,great lication ,excellent value for money
Breakfast was excellent all stall friendly & accommodating,
Beautiful pool area , drinks priced same as bars in split
Gym didn’t open until 11am when we like to train early
Morning before breakfast
I came at almost midnight, without cash, starving and very exhausted after almost 24 hours of flying. The receptionist her name is Jherly was very kind and helpful, she order an Uber, helped me to find a place to eat and withdraw money.
She offered me even a bread and cheese for the kitchen.
I really appreciated that.
Nothing, everything is great.
The room was huge, clean and new. The hotel isn’t located near the old Town, but it wasn’t a problem and just need to get a 5 minutes UBER. The Split City was for me the best City in Croatia. The con is the fact the pool area only opens at 13 hours, wich is a little strange for who wants a morning bath.
★★☆☆☆ Not the Holiday Experience We Were Sold
We chose Dioklecijan Hotel & Residence expecting a relaxing holiday with easy access to the facilities advertised. Unfortunately, the reality fell well short of our expectations.
The biggest issue was the rooftop pool area, which does not open until 1pm each day. This was never disclosed during the booking process, nor were we informed at check-in. For many guests, including ourselves, spending time around the pool is a key part of a summer holiday. To discover that this facility is unavailable every morning was both frustrating and disappointing.
Having travelled extensively, I have never stayed at a hotel where guests are prevented from using the pool area until early afternoon. Had this restriction been clearly stated before booking, we would have chosen a different hotel.
The hotel’s location was also disappointing. While Split’s Old Town is absolutely beautiful and well worth visiting, the hotel itself is situated in a predominantly residential area that lacks the charm many visitors might expect. The surrounding streets contain a significant amount of graffiti, and the immediate area does little to create a holiday atmosphere. The Old Town is over a 15-minute walk away, which may not sound far, but it is worth knowing if you’re expecting to step outside into the heart of Split.
To be fair, the rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained, and staff members we encountered were polite and professional. However, these positives were outweighed by the lack of transparency regarding the pool facilities and the underwhelming location.
For a holiday costing over £5,000, we expected far better communication and a much more enjoyable overall experience. Future guests deserve to have all the relevant information before booking so they can make an informed decision.
One member of staff who truly stood out was Ellen in the wellness centre. I booked a massage during my stay and it was exceptional. Ellen was professional, welcoming and highly skilled, providing one of the best massages I have had in a hotel spa. Her friendly manner and genuine care for guests were a highlight of the trip and she is a real asset to the hotel. If you are staying here, I would highly recommend booking a treatment with her.
Unfortunately, despite some positive aspects, this is not a hotel we would choose to return to.
Hotel was very comfortable, rooms are very clean, staff is very friendly and helpful. Good facilities, everything you need. Unfortunately, jacuzzi has been undergoing repair and not available, but we have been offered complimentary massage which been done by therapist Aurea who was just amazing. It’s probably best relaxing massage I had ever. Breakfast was lovely too. There is not much to say what else need improving.
Maybe just a location, in a middle of residential area. But it’s 5 minutes by Uber or Bolt to the old Town Split. Not a huge problem
Sehrt angenehmes Stadthotel.
Clean and the staff were very friendly, good options for breakfast.
The location is about a 25 minute walk to old town so isn’t as people have described on the reviews, the incline to the hotel is quite steep if you’re elderly or struggle with walking this is not the hotel to book. The hotel itself is a bit dated, the pool area was okay but not enough sun loungers for residents to use. Was disappointed to be charged €5 for 2 small bottles of water as when we arrived it was hot and we were gasping for a drink, would have expected a couple of welcome waters to be included.
Pool area was very nice, we were also offered a free 30 minute massage which was provided by Ellen and was excellent.
Really nice breakfast buffet that tastes like a croatian mum is back the kitchen preparing snacks for the family.
Genuinely friendly staff, old school dalmatian flair, with carefully designed spaces that just work, probably for decades already.
A really nice hotel, located an easy 20 minute downhill walk into the old town. For us we got an uber back up and through the app these were never more than a couple of minutes away and usually about £5 or £6...definitely worth it!
The hotel itself has really great facilities, especially the rooftop terrace and pool.
Breakfast was great with a wide selection.
Rooms are large and spotlessly clean.
All the staff there though are amazing and so helpful and friendly.
We had a late flight, being picked up at 6:30pm and they securely stored our luggage and we also were able to keep using the hotel facilities, including pool area etc.
100% would recommend this hotel.
Bed was comfy, sauna was nice, and pool was fun.
I would suggest getting a few snacks/drinks from the grocery store nearby to have because they price gauge you at the pool. 15€ for a fruit bowl!?
Definitely overpriced. The pool, workout area, and sauna were only open between 1-7pm. The location is far away from everything, 30min walk to old town/the beach/ many of the restaurants. Having a pool is nice but the view is only visible if you’re inside the pool, not laying in the chairs. The view from the balcony in your room is beautiful, but there’s a main road right below you which takes away a lot of the peace.
