I stayed at the Apotek twice, my first night in Iceland and my last. (In between I traveled with a group). I booked a single room. The room was tint, the bed was a twin, but it was clean, and it had everything I needed including a great shower. Great location.

Classic and classy
Lovely hotel it a great location. The front desk helped me with several important things--the person was experienced unlike other hotels we stayed at. The breakfast was also much better than the others. Comfortable, decent-sized room and bathroom. The breakfast was also much better than the other three hotels I stayed at in other cities. Like most hotels there, the hallways are way overheated, so the room gets warm even when you turn off the room heat. If you prefer/need a cooler room when you sleep, ask for a room that doesn't face Austrurstraeli. Else you'll get a lot of street noise late into the night and a prolonged and very noisy street cleaning (all three mornings when I was there) around 5-6 am. If a warmish room doesn't bother you, it's very soundproof when the windows are closed. I would also request not to face Posthusstraeti (hotel is on the corner) although I heard it was way less noisy than the other.

Small single with 2 twin beds pushed together. No dresser - ust a closet and 2 high shelves. Hard to unpack. Lived out of my suitcase.

The Apotek is a nice hotel - friendly staff, great location & clean rooms. Our only complaints are the threadbare and frayed towels we were given and a dirty glass in the bathroom. The towels should have been thrown out and never placed in one of the hotel rooms. Housekeeping should be more diligent about inspecting cups and glasses before placing them in a hotel room.

The staff were exceptional. They all went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we had everything we needed.
We had three separate check-ins to the hotel and each of the rooms were clean and comfortable. The location is outstanding - right in the centre of town, but our rooms were still quiet.
There was a lack of storage space in the room - just a few coathangers, but not shelving or drawers, so we couldn't unpack. On our last visit we had a suite, but despite having lots of space, there was still no area to put clothes etc. except for a small bit of hanging space.

This could have been great. great location just off the docks in Reyjavik. But the hotel fails on so many levels. Old uncomfortable mattresses. Inadequate black out curtains. No air conditioning, so windows need to be open to the thump of music at weekends until 0400, and then bin collection from 0600. Oh, and if you want your room cleaned you need to ask........
We stayed at Hotel Apotek 5 nights in mid June. The room and public spaces were very clean. Very helpful and friendly staff. Outstanding breakfast buffet- always well stocked and extensive choices. Location is central and hard to beat-walking distance to all of the sites. Highly recommend.
