Stunning location
This was my first time staying here. I had a wonderful stay in a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. The facilities and my room were clean, and the garden and parking area were well-maintained. The breakfast was delicious, and I would love to stay here again.
Non
Service and staff were excellent.
Old fashioned no air conditioning
A beautiful hotel in fabulous grounds. The staff are all lovely and the food fantastic.
Our room needed updating. It’s dark and the furniture is tatty.
It was hot when we stayed and a fan is not enough to keep the room cool as the windows must be shut at night to keep out the mosquitoes from the ( lovely) lake.
Great friendly staff. Nice clean place.
Staff on reception were very welcoming. Junior suite is huge!
Shower lever when knocked accidentally with my arm have an unexpected blast of very hot water. Quite dangerous.
Location staff very good. Overall price for the room was fair. There was an event on in the grounds as so the evening stay was rather noisy.
Food and bar prices were rather steep.
Staff were wonderful and breakfast was lovely. The gardens and the hotel itself is beautiful
Very hot in rooms and was told to keep windows closed due to the lake attracted insects due to the warm weather . WiFi not good and tv had bad reception
Stayed for one night recently. Hotel is in a gorgeous location, surrounded by water. We were lucky enough to have a lake view room (could see lake in the distance). Check in was smooth and fast. We stayed in a lovely, large room. Room had a four poster bed that we're not fans of (obstructed TV view from bed). We arrived, checked in and had a couple of drinks. You have to ring a bell to get service at the bar. Drinks are overpriced but I think it's the same for most hotels. The hotel seemed very quiet which was nice for us as we just wanted to rest whilst we were there. We tried to have an afternoon nap (as I'm ill) however, the noise from people being shown around other rooms was too loud and woke us twice.
Evening meal was very nice, T-Bone steak. Staff were all lovely and helpful. Sleeping was an issue for us at this hotel. We went to bed around 10pm and were woken again by guests in the room above walking around, the floorboards creaked so loudly it woke us at 11:30pm and we were unable to sleep with the noise of people constantly walking back and forwards for at least an hour. Then at 4.45am, we were woken again by noisy guests chatting outside in the hallway. I'm aware the hotel can't control guests and noise but it was disappointing that we slept very poorly. It was also about 26 degrees and the room was very hot. Hotel gave us a note asking us not to open any windows in the room due to flies etc, this was not welcome due to the heat. There was a fan in the room which didn't help much.
Breakfast. We had high hopes as our evening meal was nice. Breakfast wasn't good. Continental choice was very limited and small. Cooked breakfast done to order wasn't great either. Such a shame but but due to lack of sleep and poor breakfast, we wouldn't stay here again.
Great Breakfast and Breakfast Room
No Complaints
Situation, quietness, friendly staff, nice room
Nothing
Lovely main areas to the hotel in a great location. The grounds were nicely laid out. Friendly staff. Nice cooked breakfast. Quiet location. Comfy bed.
Room had marks and stains to walls and carpets. Needed a refresh. The area of the hotel we stayed in was very warm & stuffy and because of the water around the hotel it was recommended not to have the windows open. There was a fan which we needed to have on constantly. Air conditioning is needed or a way to screen the windows while open. There were cracked floor tiles and cracked sink surround in the bathroom. WiFi was poor and the whole area really struggles with phone signal. The view from the window was predominantly of a flat roof with old cigarette butts on it - it really detracted from the enjoyment of the room given the lovely location. Overall our room felt tired and in need of TLC particularly for the price paid.
Had a one night stay and we were pleased with the hotel. Our room was huge with all the facilities we needed. The provision of one pack of 2 biscuits was stingy. Staff were friendly and helpful, however staffing levels seemed to be lacking. Having to wait at the bar until a member of staff attends was slightly annoying.
Our evening meal was good with a well presented table and attentative staff. However my cheese board (£12) was abysmal. The smallest portion of cheese possible, 6 jacobs crackers and 6 grapes, probably cost less than £1 to create. I informed staff was told the chef would be informed, not what I expected.
All in all a decent stay but could be improved.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel and grounds were beautiful. Bed was super comfortable. Toiletries were really nice smelling.
Would have liked self service for breakfast. Ordering felt a bit long winded. Skirting boards needed a wipe down.
Absolutely fantastic day. We got married at Nunsmere Hall in May and it was the most magical day ever. It exceeded all expectations and we couldn’t have wished for more. Joel was incredible during the day, helping in anyway he could. Nothing was too much for anyone and the food tasted amazing.
Hannah was also so helpful in planning our day. We couldn’t recommend Nunsmere more.
The grounds are gorgeous for the wedding pictures. It was such a beautiful day. I wish we could do it all over again.
Thank you all so much! Xx
Awesome
No problems
Very nice big rooms (we had a suite)
Friendly staff
Lovely outdoor seating area
Would make a great wedding venue
Creaking floorboards! Everytime someone in the room above us moved around in the night the noise from the creaking floorboards was so loud it woke us up many times throughout the night. We mentioned to reception next day and they said some rooms better than others. Annoyingly this only started happening at midnight (I guess when the room above returned to their room) otherwise we would have definitely asked for another room. It was such a shame as unfortunately this had put us off ever returning and we had enjoyed our stay so much upto this point.
Staff lovely
