Really nice location food was excellent will definitely stay again
Nothing
Staff were lovely and very accomadating. We were there for a wedding and had a medical emergency the morning of checking out. We were a little late to breakfast and check out because of this and the staff were very calm and understanding.
They are clearly renovating several rooms at once, and older rooms were the same price as updated rooms. It would have been nice to know which type of room you were in based on the price if possible.
Location
Lack of clear signage
The views were amazing and the gardens were beautiful. Our room was very spacious and extremely clean 👌. They were short staffed in the bar but I must say the young lady that served us was very nice even under a lot of pressure ( wedding was taking place) the young lady once the que had gone down did come to speak to us. I didn't catch her name unfortunately but management should praise the young lady.
I understand there was a wedding so it was very busy. To be fair we checked in later in the day but was disappointed they didn't have much choice for dinner. Saying that the young lady behind the bar could not have been any nicer.
Beautiful surroundings. Lovely village
Excellent evening meal and breakfast. Comfortable beds and really helpful staff
Nothing
Lovely period building in great surroundings.. staff were friendly and easy to park.the showers were powerful. The food was of a good standard
The property was tierd and requires renovation in areas. Could be a really lovely place. I felt it required a deeper clean within he room I stayed. Staiwell leading to Hague rooms requires attention. Not a great first impression. The area to eat evening meal is way to small
Setting, the slightly work in progress nature of the ongoing renovation work. The trade union ties. The diverse team. The gardens. Food was great Rooms were great. Will definitely be our future base in the area when visiting family and the beautiful countryside of the Peaks.
The bar closed early the second evening as it had been quiet (perhaps because we weren't there 8D).
Beautiful peaceful grounds and quiet location.
Hotel has an interesting history and cosy feel.
Food is trying hard but lacks finish.
Food service was lacking in some areas
No serviettes and missing cutlery
Fish finger sandwich needs a rethink as it is mostly bread and batter.
Some lighting not working in the room.
Convenient location
Dated
Hotel and grounds were really nice. I enjoyed the building and history.
The room was very warm! I struggled to control the temperature.
Lovely setting but building inside very shabby
Just thought for the price of the rooms it was very overpriced
Breakfast was Definetly no frill’s !!!!
Beautiful properly in a very beautiful location. Room was compact but clean and comfortable to stay in. Fresh bedding and towels. I didn’t use the dining room facilities so I can’t comment on the food.
Terrible wifi and even worse heating system. Room was actually freezing at one point.
I did a bit of research as I wondered why they were charging me way more for slightly different dates. Turns out they massively increase the room prices when they have a wedding on (as there was a wedding the first night I stayed). Which I think is done in bad taste, especially for someone not actually attending the wedding, I was just in the area for work. I was in a room way out from the main area so I couldn’t hear the wedding itself, but children and people were traipsing past constantly making it hard to rest, literally running circles for fun. Unless you’re going for a wedding I wouldn’t recommend just as a visitor in the area as I was given zero attention during my stay here. No information about wifi, food menus or areas in the hall to have a drink etc. I also had to find my own way to my room which took a fair bit of time considering the distance from reception, and the very vague directions.
Location , vies and history
Lack of care and attention, old notices still up, old menus in the room folders, a decoration from 2 Christmases ago in the dust covered logs on the fire place in the bleak dining* room.
Staff would appear after a few minutes as if we had just imagined their absence.
Spacious old style country house. Good breakfast choice. Clean room. Comfy beds.
Cold room until we put the fan heater on for a few hours.
Draughty windows.
Gardens definitely short of TLC.
Location, staff and the hall were great . The room was basic but clean and tidy with everything we needed.
BUT the room they gave us was right over a wedding reception! The whole room was vibrating with noise for hours until midnight it really tainted the experience of a peaceful getaway.
A room over the wedding venue it was loud, noisy and we couldn’t sleep. The experience of peace and quiet was shattered having to listen to music and drunk people.
Breakfast- excellent choice of hot and cold food. Well cooked.
