I took my teenage son to Toronto for a YungBlud concert and decided to make it special by booking two “luxury” hotels: one night at another high-end hotel, and the rest of the weekend at 1 Hotel (where I’ve stayed before). Both were in the $500–$700/night range. On paper, they looked the same. In reality, they were not.

When we checked into our room at 1 Hotel, there was an issue: because a window had been left open before we arrived, the room had been invaded by what looked like tiny garden bugs or baby mosquitoes. Thousands of them. Not what you expect at this level. Not their fault. There is a huge garden outside the window and if the window if left open they will naturally flow towards the light and heat.

What impressed me was not that something went wrong, but how they handled it.

Immediate response:
As soon as we mentioned the issue, they switched our room right away. No defensiveness, no excuses, just, “We’ll fix this now.”

Above-and-beyond service:
We realized later we’d left a bottle of champagne at the first hotel. That hotel told us to “just order an Uber” to get it. When I mentioned this to 1 Hotel, they personally contacted the other property, arranged for their concierge car to bring the bottle over, put it on ice, and delivered it to our room.

Thoughtful apology:
That night, we received a plate of fruit and strawberries with a handwritten note apologizing for the inconvenience.

Financial gesture:
At checkout, they had already removed the $50 valet fee from the bill without me asking.

Follow-up after the stay:
On the drive home, I received a personal email from the hotel manager, apologizing again and offering us an upgrade on our next stay.

Two hotels called themselves “luxury.” Only one behaved like it when things went sideways.

1 Hotel turned a potential horror story into a masterclass in hospitality. They didn’t just fix a room; they restored trust and made us feel genuinely cared for.

I will absolutely stay here again and recommend 1 Hotel Toronto to anyone who wants true 5-star service, not just 5-star pricing.

When you visit a city with a thriving culinary scene like Toronto, access matters. And when you’re trying to get into a fully booked restaurant, a great concierge can truly make your trip.

That’s exactly what we experienced at 1 Hotel Toronto. Robin, a Les Clefs d’Or concierge, brings a beautiful balance of experience and refinement, able to secure hard-to-get reservations and just as thoughtfully guide you when something isn’t available. That kind of discernment really shapes the experience.

What stayed with me just as much was the warmth across the team. Camila at the concierge desk was so kind, our kids loved chatting with her in the lobby, and she even sent us off with personalized coloring pages and apples from the farm stand for the ride home. Such a thoughtful touch.

The valet and bell team were equally welcoming. C2 who drove us in the house car, suggested we visit the Distillery District on our way out-and it ended up being one of our favorite spots in the city.

At breakfast, Hanan was especially accommodating when our kids were being a bit fussy and helped us order a wonderful meal with such ease. Shamar at the front desk was also incredibly warm, adding to the overall feeling of being well taken care of.

Even simple moments-a cocktail at the lobby bar or breakfast-felt elevated because the conversations were so warm and genuine.

It’s not just about service, it’s about how that service is felt.

The 1 Hotel was honestly the best hotel I have ever visited/experienced! Booking was simple, the entire property is immaculately presented, and carries a welcoming earthy vibe to it, the rooms were clean and vibey, perfectly located downtown - just overall so relaxing and classy! Robin, our concierge, and his team, were incredible in making special arrangements for us as we were celebrating the Mrs’ birthday. Highly recommend.

From the moment we arrived at the 1 Hotel Toronto, the staff treated us like family. We (2 adults and 2 kids, 9 amd 13) stayed for 9 days which is a lengthy time in a city hotel. The double queen room was extremely comfortable and always immaculately presented. The staff would exchange cute little messages with our kids on the room's chalk board. They organised a little easter egg hunt in the room on Easter Sunday.
We went to see the Maple Leafs hockey game one night and the next day we arrived home to a Maple Leaf helium balloon in the room!
The sustainability programme is present throughout the hotel and gives it a warm, modern and earthy feel.
We loved the Flora bar down stairs. It was so comfy to sit in in the morning with a coffee or a cocktail in the evening. There was always a buzz of people, it is clearly a hotel that many people enjoy for different purposes. There's a very exclusive rooftop bar which was lovely for a drink (no kids allowed so just tried it once!) and as a guest staying there was no impact, noise or otherwise, from the steady stream of exclusive guests to that bar.

We want to make a special call-out to Robin, the hotel concierge, who attended to our every need before and during the trip. You know it's been exceptional treatment when the children comment on the attentiveness! Thank you Robin.
And also the desk staff as well as Gilberto the bell man who helped with our luggage needs on our last day.

The hotel location is excellent, we walked to the Rogers Centre and Scotiabank in 20mins. There are streetcar trams going in all directions nearby.

Please try this hotel if you are in Toronto. You wont be disappointed 💚

Truly amazing customer service. Gilberto was so lovely. He gave our daughter an apple upon arrival and greeted us with glasses of fresh water. He brought us to our room and was extremely professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Jonah worked the front desk and was also extremely personable. Great at his job, making every guest feel catered to. He sent my husband up a bottle of prosecco when he found out it was his birthday. We received an upgraded room prior to our arrival because of a leak in our original room. Hotel is sustainable and tries to reduce waste wherever possible. Gorgeous, spacious rooms and stunning decor. Very comfortable beds and pillows.

Absolutely amazing stay! Place is lovely, super clean and nice. Staff are incredible especially Manis who thought of absolutely everything and made our stay that much better!

I loved the house car, the valet (c2) was awesome getting us to the bakery nearby our hotel on the last day! I recommend the 1 Hotel to anyone visiting Toronto. My friends and I loved Toronto so much and the hotel genuinely sealed the experience for us :)

Our stay at 1 Hotel Toronto was nothing short of extraordinary and the experience began even before we arrived.

Two days prior to check-in, I reached out to the hotel team to inquire about in-room amenities (flowers, chocolates, etc.) to surprise my wife for her birthday. Within just a few hours, I received a thoughtful response from Alicia, who not only shared a comprehensive list of available options, but also offered us a discounted upgrade to a stunning studio suite. The value alone was incredible, but she went even further, adding a complimentary bottle of Prosecco and offering to handwrite a personalized note on my behalf.

From the moment we arrived, the service was immediate and genuine. The valet team welcomed us warmly, assisted with our luggage, and opened the doors into a breathtaking lobby. There, we were greeted by Robin, who instantly recognized my name, acknowledged my wife’s birthday, and discreetly mentioned the surprises waiting upstairs. He personally escorted us to check-in and introduced us to Jennie, who continued the warm, enthusiastic welcome. Even as my wife wandered into the beautiful Flora Lounge, Jennie shared in the excitement of the surprise awaiting her. I was amazed... every team member was not only aware, but genuinely invested.

When we entered our suite, we were both in awe. Every detail was thoughtfully designed and impeccably executed. My wife's reaction to the roses, Prosecco, fruit and chocolate, and handwritten note made everything worth it.

As we headed back down to explore the city, Robin and Jennie were eager to hear about her reaction. Their joy and excitement made the experience feel deeply personal. Shortly after, we had the opportunity to meet Alicia in person. She greeted us with such warmth and genuine happiness that it felt like reconnecting with an old friend. What began as a simple thank-you handshake quickly turned into a heartfelt hug shared between all of us.

Within our first hour, we didn’t feel like guests, we felt like family.

That level of care and intentionality continued throughout our entire stay. We had the pleasure of using the hotel’s car service, where Raheem and Jay offered fantastic recommendations around the city. Each time we returned, Kareem and the valet team were ready before we even reached the entrance, and Robin greeted us like we’d known each other for years, always asking about our day and evening plans.

One evening, we dined at Casa Madera, where our server Wahid delivered an exceptional experience... knowledgeable, attentive, and thoughtful. He even surprised my wife with a birthday Tres Leches dessert. When the bill arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that Alicia had covered our first round of drinks. Later that evening, she stopped by to check in on us and also went out of her way to secure us a brunch reservation at 1 Kitchen the next morning. Her care and attentiveness went far beyond anything we’ve ever experienced.

Brunch at 1 Kitchen was phenomenal, made even better by our wonderful server Hannah. And as we were leaving, Kareem once again stepped in to assist with our bags, ensuring a seamless and warm farewell.

My wife and I have stayed at luxury resorts across the Maldives, Australia, Europe, and throughout the United States, but nothing compares to the experience we had here. From arrival to departure, we were treated with a level of care, presence, and genuine connection that is incredibly rare.

This was our first time staying at a 1 Hotel property but if this is the standard, it certainly won’t be our last.

This was our second time staying at this hotel but the first time bringing our dog. I called the hotel a day before our trip and requested an early check in & a room away from the lift.
The hotel honoured our request and gave us a bigger room too.
We used the valet service and had room service. Everything was great!
The sound proofing around was great, we all slept well & our dog was not disturbed by outside noise.
We highly recommend this hotel whether you’re travelling with your pet or not.

We had an absolutely exceptional stay at 1 Hotel Toronto. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations.

The ambiance is stunning, elegant, calming, and thoughtfully designed, creating a true sense of comfort and luxury. The cleanliness of the rooms and all common areas was impeccable, and the location is perfect for exploring the city.

What truly made our stay unforgettable was the outstanding service. Gilberto went above and beyond to assist us with our room and transportation—his kindness and professionalism made a huge difference. At breakfast, Corey was equally wonderful very attentive, warm, and incredibly helpful. It’s rare to encounter such genuinely caring staff.

We also had dinner one evening at Casa Madera, and it was a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was vibrant and beautiful, and the food was absolutely delicious—one of the highlights of our stay.

Overall, this hotel was a truly wonderful surprise and worth every penny. It made our time in Toronto unforgettable. The rooms are so clean and cozy that you immediately feel at home, yet still surrounded by luxury.

I honestly cannot say enough about this fantastic hotel. Every member of the staff was super polite, welcoming, and eager to accommodate any request.
