Very welcoming and helpful staff. Room clean. Tiled shower room Tea making facility. Central location and car parking.
Mira shower and cabinet door from the 80’s but functioned okay. Slight smell of cooking throughout but not offensive. Some areas a little tired but cleanliness makes up for this.
Helpful staff, great breakfast, free parking
The cabins at the back are a budget option standard but not at a budget price!
Beds comfortable , good shower
At first appearance the annex was shoddy , but internally the fittings and fixtures were good
Lovely hotel with an excellent restaurant
Girl on at the front doow was polict and happy
Mix upnwith rooms / booking and the tv did not work in room
Hotel is in the centre of town and has private parking which is really useful. Breakfast has a good choice. The bar is well stocked and has very fair prices.
The standard room with a standard double bed is quite small We will take a larger room next time.
We've been before we just like it.
Great location in centre of Dunkeld, bar and restaurant on site, food was nice, private parking available.
The location was good. The breakfast was good.
The bed/mattress creaked there were delves in it, definitely needed a new mattress . The floor creaked and the shower unit and shower were in need of an upgrade. Poor value for money and not filthy but far from spotless !
Good location, parking availability. Polite staff.
Overpriced. I was accommodated in the annex at the back of the hotel. The facade of the hotel facing the road is attractive but the rear is a bit dreary.
Staff helpful - I left a jacket behind and they kept it for me until I could get back to retrieve it.
I've marked this as poor value, but I was staying in the annex rather than the main hotel, so I can't speak for the quality of the hotel rooms themselves - but the annex room, while adequate, was a bit tired and in need of refurbishment, and I think it a little overpriced.
Location. That’s all really the hotel had going for it based on this visit.
Dirty room. Floor covered in bits of stuff and in need of a good hoover. Reception staff didn’t seem to know we were coming and tried to get me to pay them again even though I proved I had already paid through booking.com. From the booking it was a room in the hotel I’d booked only to find I was allocated a hut in the car park. Bathroom was ridiculously small and you could hardly fit in shower then could not dress in bathroom. Booked twin and was given double bed. Wasn’t a problem on this occasion getting double but sometimes travel with my brother and if booking a twin expect to get what I booked. Noisy room as in car park from people going in and out beside window and people in general walking by hut!
extras like a bottle of water and coffee maker in the room. Style of the room was nice
A bit expensive, for what we paid breakfast should have been included not an additional £13
Strap yourself in, this is a long one...
Booked myself a last minute night here (Sat 2nd May) to join a friend who was visiting from the USA and was already booked in. The TripAdvisor reviews are quite mixed so I was a little unsure what to expect.
First impressions of the hotel from the lobby and reception - quite 'tired' and in need of an upgrade.
I checked into Room 204 - again a little 'shabby' and in need of decorating. After calling home I went to use the loo. The door was catching on the floor tiles. The light in the shower cubicle wasn't working. The shower tray was still wet and looked a bit grubby. The heated towel rail was very obviously covered in dust and the floor under it was very dusty and hairy. Out of curiosity I lifted the toilet seat to find that the underside and the toilet rim was covered in, for want of a better description, 'dirty toilet splashback'. It had clearly not been cleaned after the last occupants had used it. Now, I can deal with shabby but dirty is a big no. I went down to reception and showed the Receptionist the photos I'd taken (can't remember her name unfortunately but something unusual beginning with Su). She was mortified and very quickly offered me a new room. Taking the key to Room 203 I took my belongs from the first room and went to this new one... Before I even unlocked the door things weren't looking promising... There were chunks of what looked like plaster on the carpet. It didn't get any better once in the room with plaster chunks and dust all over the carpet. The bathroom wasn't any better with dust on the floor, toilet cistern and seat. There wasn't even any toilet paper. Another trip down to reception... I suggested 'Su' join me to have a look. She was again mortified by the state of the room. For the second time I gathered up my stuff...
This time 'Su' sent me to the bar for a complimentary drink while she went to find me a third room. I was about 2/3rds of my way through a bottle of lager when she came back with my third room key and reassured me that she had checked the room herself. Room 101 was at least clean. Still shabby, but no dirty toilet splashback or plaster dust. The curtains didn't fit the window though.
Now, I appreciate Housekeeping is probably a fairly thankless job however, I would suggest that in a hotel it is probably one of the most essential jobs. To have not just one but two dirty rooms is a disgrace. How many more have housekeeping skipped on?
Melville Hotels need to invest money in upgrading their rooms and bathrooms and tidy up the public areas. Management need to review Housekeeping and ensure everything is being cleaned correctly. I do want to thank the Receptionist 'Su' (again, so sorry to have forgotten her name) who seemed genuinely mortified by the situation and dealt with it efficiently.
I will not be back.
Just dropped in for a drink on a very sunny day. Lovely staff but bar and beer garden are a bit tired.
