Nothing
Air conditioning was loud in the bedroom and not working in the living room
Great location. Reasonable price particularly for the suite. Awesome to have an efficiency kitchen. Decent spread for breakfast but nothing if you have a dairy allergy and very little if you don't eat meat or are vegan. It is loud with the constant ambulances.
The toaster was broken. It was not the cleanest, with peeling and cracking paint and rusty fixtures in the bathroom. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom but we could hear directly in to the room next to us through what should've been the exhaust fan. Lighting was really dark - no major overhead lighting. Having the window blinds open made it like 10 degrees hotter. The gym didn't have everything that was pictured. The elevators were so slow sometimes waiting 15-20 minutes when it was busier. Housekeeping only came once in 8 days and when we left trash out in front of our door, no one ever came to get it. The one time they did come, they left a pile of laundry in our living room that may or may not have been dirty but definitely an extra set.
We had two rooms. One was fine but the other room had many problems with the air conditioning. Even after being changed to another room, the new room also had problems with the air conditioning.
La ubicación y que incluyera el desayuno
Bastante sucio y viejo
The breakfast was good, the views from my room was amazing, and it was the perfect amount of living space for a family of 5
The hotel should have refunded or credited for the poor condition of the gym and pool area as it was advised at the time of booking that the pool was out of order.
I loved the location and the welcoming attitude of the staff. The house keepers did an exceptional job of keeping my room clean with fresh towels.
When I arrived at my room, I noticed that the air conditioner didn't work in my bedroom. They did send a tech right away who told me the air compressor burned out so he offered me a fan. They also offered to switch rooms with no problem when the space became available. The gym was a total disappointment because they didn't have one treadmill and I really enjoy working. One of the elliptical machines was broken. The lack of gym equipment was very disappointing, especially by the hotel being in a prime location you expect the gym to be somewhat accommodating. I had to find a planet fitness nearby because exercise is a great stress reliever for me. The swimming pool was out of commission as well. The breakfast situation was very disappointing as well because we shared the Hampton inn breakfast space with the Homewood suites breakfast space, which caused a long line at the waffle machine and the breakfast was subpar, they can definitely use some better quality food and more options. The staff made up for the shortcomings of the accommodations.
Location
Where do I begin, the rooftop pool was being renovated, the door lock wouldn’t let us in half the time we tried, the bedroom air conditioning didn’t work well at all, the deadbolt lock was hanging on by three very lose bolts. We checked in on a Thursday & checked out on a Sunday. All this we informed them before we went out Friday morning after realising the room never actually got cold over night.
On top of that the morning of departure I waited 10 minutes for the lift. The lift situation is Absolutely horrible.
* The location of the hotel was amazing
* The views from my room were terrific
* The staff was very friendly
* There were no issues with noise
* The cost was a bit high
This was a disaster, I am a diamond club member who pre paid for 2 nights with points. Upon arrival, tried to check in a little early, but was told room was not ready. I let them check my bags left my phone number and got no call. Came back after dinner and was told they had no rooms. How is that possible?? I got there at 1 pm you checked my bags had my number . A manager got us a room a 10 minute walk down the street in the rain. She apologized said to come back early tomorrow and they would get us into our room.. I went back early 8:45am hoping to not be out on the street for hours without a room again..Still no room, come back in a few hours. Went back at 11:15 still no rooms, checked my bags again they took my number and said they would call as soon as available should be no later than 1pm. Phone rang at 2:45 we immediately came back and checked in. We were 3 adults it was fine , a king and a pull out. We went to dinner without checking the make up of the pull out.. Shocker.. No sheets or pillows to be found. Tired, early flight ahead and not wanting to fight with a clearly inefficient staff,my son left and stayed with a friend. My wife and I checked out Sunday morning. I called the manager twice who shockingly was in meetings left my number two days later, still no call..I am pretty chill, I get that things happen, but I really feel like they didn't give a ____ . Not the way to treat a a loyal diamond club member..Bad job Hilton.
Location was convenient and rooms were spacious with good views.
Very outdated rooms. Air conditioning is old and not working properly. Smell in the hotel is not good and the hallways have a musty smell. Carpets need a good cleaning. Overall, the hotel can benefit from some renovation.
Our main issue was the air conditioner in both rooms that we booked. We arrived at this hotel in a week that it was extremely hot in Chicago. When we got into our rooms the air conditioner was at 65F and it felt humid and musty. We decided to give some time and went for a walk. We came back and the air conditioner didn’t cool off the rooms. We called the front desk and sent the maintenance guy at 10pm. We had an infant and a child with us. The guy told us the air conditioning was working. The rooms were very warm still. We called front desk and requested a new room. They gave us a new room but before moving my family I made sure the air conditioner was working which unfortunately was the same.
We decided to move into another property because the front desk was not much help and they kept telling us that the air conditioner was working good. It was hard to do all this changes and we couldn’t be in a place with some comfort for our children. We moved to another property close by, more modern, clean, and with air conditioning working!!!
Definitely, not a good start for us in our first time in Chicago. We love the Hilton brand hotels but this one was a big disappointment and not to the Hilton standards.
Having a kitchen setup with dishes and utensils
Was not aware that the pool was under renovation. I saw the picture of the pool and the beautiful view from the room and that was what convinced me to book. The view from the room was decent. The worse part was the elevators. Waited more than 20 minutes for an elevator and finally had to take more than 20 flights of stairs in order to not miss breakfast. Finally made it to breakfast but felt rushed because there was only 15 minutes left till breakfast was over. Then valet was another story, took a while because everyone was checking out and having trouble with the elevators.
We booked three nights at Homewood Suites Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile in late June using Hilton points at 60,000 points per night. Compared to other nearby properties, it was a reasonable redemption, though certainly not “cheap.”
The biggest positive is the location. The hotel is right off Michigan Avenue and very convenient for exploring the Magnificent Mile and downtown Chicago. As a base for sightseeing, it worked well.
That said, the property itself feels very dated. If you are looking for a modern hotel with bright rooms and updated finishes, this would not be the right choice. The elevators were also a major frustration. There are only three, and during peak times—breakfast, lunch, check-in/check-out, and dinner hours—waits of 5–10 minutes were common. At one point, we waited closer to 10–15 minutes.
The room was functional but old. It had a separate living room and bedroom, plus a full kitchen with an electric stovetop, which is a nice feature if you need extra space or plan to cook. However, the room was dark, with mostly lamp lighting rather than bright overhead lighting. The bathroom was dated with an older bathtub/shower setup, though the shower head was good and water pressure was decent. The bed was acceptable, though a little too soft for my preference. The darker carpeting and older finishes also gave the room a less fresh impression, even if it was technically clean.
Breakfast was a standard hotel breakfast with eggs, sausage, waffles, juice, and coffee. Nothing memorable, but adequate.
Overall, this was a functional stay in a convenient location, and we were thankful we spent most of our time out exploring Chicago rather than in the room. However, I probably would not stay here again. Next time in downtown Chicago, I would look for a newer, fresher mid-tier property instead.
For some reason my deposit was never refunded even though the room was left clean
Location is great. Front desk was very attentive. The rooms however are just horrible. The hotel is in desperate need of renovations...the carpet that is EVERYWHERE including high traffic elevators are stained and ratty. Stains on everything...walls..couches...unpatched holes in the wall. And the beds are some of the most uncomfortable I've ever slept in...you feel every spring...and pillows are flat. If you plan on using the sofa bed I suggest you don't.
Todo muy bien
