Beautiful view and very well located. Loved the history of the hotel and found the public areas were in keeping with the historic past of the building. All staff were helpful and professional especially when I managed to lock my room key in the room! The price paid as a solo was amazing given the quality of the breakfast and the room was quiet and had a lovely view of the river.
Sadly, the rooms are needing a wee bit modernisation and was quite bare considering the ambience of the public area. The room was very warm (even with the window open) and the bed was very soft for my liking. Breakfast was awesome but would have preferred coffee and tea served rather than a teabag and urn.
The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming.
Should have spent a bit more and upgraded to a larger room, although the room was adequate, clean and had a view.
Great location, nice grounds , polite staff
Nice bar area
The bed , pillows and quilt were terrible.
Bed and pillows very hard and lumpy , quilt very heavy. Plus the room we were in was in a separate building ( didn’t know this on booking) To go to the bar or restaurant, you needed a coat if it was raining. It’s all very tired looking.
The hotel is breathtakinglysituated beside the river Tweed, with views upstream to Floors Castle. The grounds are beautiful and perfect for sitting in on a lovely summer’s evening with a glass of wine. The hotel itself is a lovely old building, however is in need of a little TLC. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were polite, helpful and friendly. Our room was very comfortable and quiet.
Cobwebs, dirty windows, flaking paintwork and stained carpets let down an otherwise stunning hotel.
Location in town centre, gardens, quiet.
Some staff quite off hand. Quite expensive for a 3* hotel.
Breakfast was good , location was excellent , staff were helpful
When we arrived it was impossible park the car and very few cars belonged to guests !!The single rooms were small and I should have booked two doubles .. We had two dinners in the hotel, which were just OK but could have been better , for example a bread course for two of us should be more than two small slices of white bread which had gone stale
Setting
Steep stairs to room and no lift
Excellent location for access to the town. Fabulous old building with an amazing bedroom. The breakfast was lovely with great choice of cereals, fruits, pastries and cooked.
The mattress was not great but was sufficient after a long day exploring
Dogs were allowed. Room very quiet.
Good location in town and beautiful view of the river
The property was fine. The bathroom for my room was very tired and not of the standard I would expect (chipped bath, painted tiles, ill fitting shower screen over a bath). From the party I was with, it seems many bathrooms have been refurbished, mine had not, but it needs to be done to give better value for the fee charged.
Had character with modern facilities
Nothing
Great location - Lovely breakfasts - Polite & friendly staff.
