Our honeymoon stay here was amazing and we would come again!!! make sure you check out the beautiful garden on the Bay side.
Wonderful location our window looked right out at the canal so we were very close to see when the big ships came in.
First impression was how attentive the staff was to making everything the best it could possibly be. The property is beautiful and welcoming- lovely flowers and outdoor spaces to sit and enjoy the amazing setting. So nice to be near the water and the lift bridge that makes Duluth the special place that is is. The room was clean and very comfortable with a great view. Very walkable to many restaurants and other waterfront. Great history walk with the owner in the morning and a welcomed wake up call during the night to watch a ship move through the canal!
Could see the ships coming in out of our window in our room
We always enjoy our stays at South Pier no matter the time the time of year. The surrounding sites and sounds are always an added bonus to our experience at SP and the North Shore.
View was spectacular. Staff with service and information was above and beyond!
Having binoculars in the room was a special experience. And a glass of wine by the fire pit topped off our visit.
Thank you.
There's something utterly wonderful about the South Pier Inn. Yes, it's the location, right by the canal. Yes, it's the charming and very comfortable accommodations. Yes, it's the incredible gardens. Yes, it's the parking. Yes, it's the sounds and sights of the bridge, the ships, the city of Duluth up on the heights. But it is something far more. It's the people. The owners are life-long residents of Park Point. Their loyalty and dedication to the city and to the people who choose to stay at this little gem of a hotel is incomparable. They know hospitality. They know ships. They know Duluth. They love it all. I had 2 wonderful long conversations with Betty, one of the owners, and it's so clear that her position is from a deep place in her heart. It reflects In most of her staff (I butted heads with a man-splainer behind the desk one morning, when he told me to head east on Skyline Parkway, not west, which is where we wanted to go to see the Superior Entry, he wouldn't stop pressing us to go east, which we intended to do on our way out of town to Thunder Bay. He wouldn't back down and called me "rude." Oh well, I don't suffer man-splainers at all any longer.) that she hires, and it reflects in her carriage and comfortable ease in her management of the hotel. I can't imagine how difficult their job is running a hotel and living two doors down, but they make it look so effortless! Your stay here will be the delight of your trip!
We stayed at South Pier Inn for our anniversary and it was a wonderful experience! It’s located in a great spot right over the lift bridge with a private seating area overlooking Lake Superior, beach access across the street, and is walking distance to canal park.
The room was cozy and quiet with a private balcony. Breakfast is included and had the perfect assortment of choices. We wish we could have stayed longer!
We booked a room with a view of the city, and they put us with a view of the parking lot!! Really disapointed in this. Will never come back
South Pier Inn by the Duluth lift bridge is a total gem. Wish I had discovered this place years ago. If a small hotel could achieve perfection, they’ve done it. There is nothing to fix it’s already the best. Staff and location great. Room well thought out and impeccably clean. We will return 😎
This is the second time we have stayed and it is a beautiful place. Perfect location to watch the ships enter and depart. Staff are exceptional and pleasant. The rooms are very clean and well kept. The price is well worth it as it is within walking distance of the Canal, shops and restaurants. Highly recommend as you will not be disappointed!
Close to canal park and ships
Have to lug suitcases up stairs
So nice and within walking distance of the shops along Canal Street. Room was comfortable with a nice view of the bridge.
Room was beautiful, great location, great customer service.
We LOVED our stay at South Pier Inn. Friendly staff, sparkling clean and so convenient to Canal Park. We walked everywhere. DO NOT MISS the free morning walking tour with Randy, who is one of the owners and a life long Point resident. He even waited for the rain to subside to take us out… fascinating stories!
Great experience watching the lift bridge raising and lowering. Comfortable beds. Only improvement is if all the rooms could face the harbor (impossible, I’m sure). Excellent service and very enjoyable experience.
