The pub underneath
Older house out the back, high ceilings so very cold
Clean, fresh room
No split system air con in bedroom, had to rely on the one in kitchen/sitting area to heat. I found the bedroom to be a bit cold
Location, quiet and space
Nothing
The size of the room, a good sized refrigerator
The decoration on the couch and having to go upstairs
Lots of room
Second floor
Spacious, warm and an excellent location with a 15min to Armstrong street.
Facilities like the kitchenette equipment can use an upgrade. Things felt cheap, however the price of accommodation kind of reflects what you get
Room was so cold, heater not working. Room could not get cozy if when heater was working, room is constructed in such a way that heater could not make it cozy. Such a waste to book it at that price and my child got sick due to cold.
Environment inside house. High ceiling, cheap heater.
Decent location
Big rooms
Pillow (only one) was thin and hard.
Bed was very hard
Good location in close proximity to the train station and the city centre. Free parking was great!
Rooms are not at all sound proof. Couple next door had a very active and very loud love life the first night I was there which resulted in very little sleep. Shower in the bathroom was gross. The floor never fully dries, the seals need to be redone and there was limestone build up and mould in places. The door to the bathroom also only opened 70% of the way. The bed was not very comfortable but my main problem was the noise.
The shower is actually hot, which we love, the staff are always friendly and helpful. Our home away from home.
The bathroom was new.
It wasn’t the cleanest.
The Bible was thrown under the bed which I thought was disrespectful.
There was a stipulation that all dishes needed to be washed and dried before we left but there wasn’t a sponge or tea towel. No sharp knives so one wouldn’t be able to cut up meat for dinner. The heater was pretty poor as were the beds and pillows. I’ve never had to remake a bed before but here I did. The fitted sheet was a top sheet all crinkled and not made well. There was another top sheet over the top of the sooner.
The walls were very thin so we were woken by neighbours at 6pm.
Most rooms are up some steep stairs and my mother could barely walk up them plus she actually fell down the step to get from the room to the walkway. It’s about a 20 step up and she didn’t realise and fell down. She’s really old and it’s lucky she didn’t break something.
I wouldn’t say this place is 4*. I don’t know what constitutes ratings but this is 3* in my mine. The grounds are also poorly kept with a lot of weeds. I also tried to dial 9 to call about the lack of tea towels etc and whilst reception answered they couldn’t hear me bc the phone doesn’t work. It seems to be a very run down place that has great marketing photos to entice. I wouldn’t stay here again.
a very comfortable well maintained motel
Location was good and easy to find. Bed was comfortable but bathroom needed maintenance done to it. Very slow toilet flush refill.
Location. Rooms were brilliant sized. Spa bath a bonus
The stairs were slightly annoying
The rooms were clean and tidy, and well laid out and well serviced. Despite being close to the centre of the city and on a major road, the rooms were very quiet, allowing us an uninterrupted sleep. There was adequate undercover off-street parking, and another bonus was the fact that the North Star Hotel is part of the building complex (although apparently a seperate business). A fifty metre walk took us from front door to hotel dining room, and the food was excellent.
Not so much a case of not liking it, but there is no sugar-coating the fact that the facilities are on the tired side. However this did not affect our stay in any way. The location and quietness easily makes up for it.
