Great stay overall but did not see the value in terms of price point. Experienced a couple of small issues like waiting half hour for luggage pickup after three calls and delayed room cleaning one day to 4pm after we returned to the room already. Nothing was done to acknowledge the issues or otherwise. Activities such as e-bike tour and boat ride were great. Great expansive property with lots to explore.
We rented a house through the Montage and had the benefits of the HOA amenities through renting that house (including the HOA pool). The house was very nicely decorated and fully stocked (except for cooking oil). Beds/pillows were luxe, so comfy.
Searching for aligators in the river by our house was a fun activity all week.
The Dolphin Cruise with Captain Gary was A++ (a must!)
We also rented two golf carts and those worked perfectly with no issues.
With the thunderstorms, there were lots of convenient umbrellas on property which was helpful.
Hush (the Speakeasy on premises) is a gem!
Buffalos was delicious and Buzz was a treat.
We didn't get a chance to S'more at night - maybe next time!
Pools were clean and nice tempuratures.
All amenities were top notch!
MUST DO family vacation! We had the best time and cannot wait to return! We loved the bikes and golf cart. Beautiful grounds!
Staff in amazing. The grounds are fantastic. As soon as you pull up to the Montage, you feel transported to total relaxation!
Going to the infamous Riverhouse pool which back in the day was perfect! Lack of detail is concerning, weeds underneath chairs. Pool need to be painted , water was cloudy and the smell in the bathroom of mold or gray water is intolerable. Certainly not five star
Beautiful grounds, exceptional accommodations and many great food, entertainment options. Highly recommend for families, couples, etc.
We love the scenery, the location, the facilities, all the staffs are always smiling n friendly. Very helpful. We have my partner 70th birthday celebration there. They had treated us very nice. Sent over a bottles of champagne 🍾, desserts at the dinner, etc. It's just a perfect touch to make it special for my man.Thank you!
It's a little buggy...there are little bugs/flies come around your face even when we played golf at the golf course. It's kind of annoying. I guess it's humid due to the summer time, plus very lush around the area.
Stunning riverfront setting, great accommodations, and top-tier dining, I reccomend their breakfast.
Montage Palmetto Bluff delivers an authentic, flawless luxury retreat. Highly recommended for anyone looking to slow down and indulge in the finest the South has to offer.
Was looking forward to a relaxing stay at a highly reviewed hotel and instead got poor service almost everywhere we turned . Nice front desk person promised us an upgrade with our Amex benefits and instead never got the room promised and took way longer to get it than he told us. Next sent us to one of the restaurants on campus and after 2 hours for lunch and none of our small lunch requests followed up finally left around 230pm after being there sucks 1230pm. Went back to the front desk where we were finally curtly given keys to a different room. This is all in the first 2.5 hours here. No time to explore the grounds because we were either waiting for our food or waiting for a room.
At $800 a night this is barely motel 8! Service
Pick
Somewhere else to enjoy the low country
Really lovely escape -- we felt very pampered. The breeze, river view, and napping sofa on the screened porch of our cottage were so relaxing! Single-speed bikes make getting around easy. Quiet, luxurious, spacious, relaxing -- overall, an extremely lovely getaway.
The grounds and hotel were absolutely beautiful. We stayed in a cottage on the property that was very well appointed. The restaurants had very good food, but very expensive.
We all got massages/facials at the spa. Our massages were all good but VERY overpriced. I travel a good amount and am a massage therapist myself and this is the most expensive massage I’ve ever had- $250 for a basic one hour massage. I decided to pay this for the experience- the spa is well appointed with suana, steam, cold plunge and jacuzzi.
The reason I didn’t give this a 5 star is the high price, yes, but they charge you a 22% automatic gratuity for spa services. Some of my friends gave their therapist a 20% + tip in cash after their treatment, only to see they were were charged another 22% at check out. When they told the desk person that they already paid gratuity, they said it was policy to still charge for gratuity. So many paid over $100 more than the already exorbitant $250 massage price. Buyer beware!!
It's a soul-soothing place. I absolutely love visiting and will return whenever possible. The grounds, food and staff are all just wonderful.
Love, love, loved it. I've stayed at the Montage in Laguna Beach once and Palmetto Bluff twice. Their resorts are unparalleled luxury. My most recent stay was at Palmetto Bluff. The staff is warm and accommodating and they do little things (at no charge) like creating a firepit to makes smores every night, warm cookies in the parlor and refreshing smoothies poolside that make the experience extra special.
The Montage Palmetto Bluff and the staff were absolutely perfect. Everyone went out of their way to welcome us and make us feel pampered. We will return next year.
This was a very nice property but some real challenges that kept it from being what we would expect from Montage.
Our room was booked as poolside guest house, and the room was nice. But it was a 10 minute walk from the main building, or a 10 minute wait for a golf cart shuttle. Given that the guest house pool has no services at all - no food service, no pool bar staff, and not a single employee at the guest house, that was a challenge.
In addition, we had golf booked at Anson Point, a beautiful new golf course. Unfortunately, when we called for a shuttle to that course that is 5 miles from the hotel but still part of Palmetto Bluffs, we were informed that the Montage does not provide shuttle rides to Anson.
And the bill didn't include the deduction of the Amex credit.
All in all, it was good but certainly wasn't anywhere near the caliber of the Montage experience we would expect.
Amazing place, staff was unbelievable, 1st class all the way!
This property is so unique, offers something for everyone. World class golf, incredible nature, food was unbelievable, tennis, pickle ball, biking, boating, you name it.
We had a wonderful stay and were truly impressed with the beauty and atmosphere of the property. The setting is incredibly picturesque, with a peaceful and calming energy that makes it feel like a true escape. The grounds, architecture, and overall design create a charming and memorable experience that stands out. Dining at River House was a highlight, with exceptional service and delicious food, and breakfast at Octagon was consistently excellent. The sense of community throughout the property, along with all the thoughtful details, makes it a very special place that we would gladly return to and recommend to others. We stayed at the Myrtle #7 which was lovely but next trip will want a cottage overlooking the river. Definitely a weekend getaway trip if you need to disconnect!
We visited as day guests passing through from Charleston to Savannah. Super nice high end quality resort. Well worth our stop to see this lovely place for a possible destination visit another time. The drinks and smash burger at the Octagon bar were amazing!
Montage was a beautiful resort on 22,000 acres of SC low country water views. Well maintained grounds, Ebikes, kayaks, spa, pool, boat rides -- so much to do. The staff was exceptional and had a fantastic relaxing time. Would recommend and am going to research their other properties.
