Close to downtown Bangor without the price tag of staying in downtown Bangor. Easy check in, decent rooms and friendly staff.
Honestly, no complaints. This isn’t a 5 star hotel, but it’s perfect if you want something comfortable, safe and easy to get to and from while in town for a concert.
Staff was great!
I did not feel safe staying here due to the menloitering outside my room. I left without staying overnight.
Dog friendly!
It was very loud, thin walls maybe?
The beds were acually very comfortable
breakfast
The location was good in that it was convenient to Acadia NP. The breakfast was a bit better than the 'continental' that was promised with fresh waffles and yogurt. The coffee was a very good local roast.
Vacationland met expectations of a 1-star motel. The property was quite old and not well maintained. Everything worked (shower, sink, TV, locks, etc), but the room and entire property smelled like an old ill-maintained property. We appreciated it being available for a lower price than other Acadia-convenient lodging. As long as you expect 1-star it meets those expectations just fine.
We checked in after 10pm. We found it odd that they asked for both of our ID'S. Usually it's just the person whose name is on the reservation. The night front desk attendant seemed unfriendly and annoyed that we were checking in. We got our key and drove to the back building. We dragged all our luggage up the stairs (no elevator). We got to our room and tried to open with a physical key and it wouldn't unlock. After multiple tries, my wife called the front desk and they said they were on their way. My wife tried the key and was able to get it to open with very soft pressure to turn the key. We gor in, and the main redeeming quality of the room, was that the AC was on full blast and the room felt great. I don't think there is any AC in the hallways. The room is dated, but the beds were comfortable and sheets were clean as far as we could tell. The shower hot water is reversed of what it should be. We had to turn it to the right for hot water. The shower curtain rode was installed incorrectly. It should jut away from the back of the shower wall, but this was installed like a smile. The towels were clean and got replaced on our 2nd day. But they don't have any towel racks anywhere in the room. The continental breakfast was OK. It had a Belgian waffle station and your standard yogurt, cereal, breads bagels, muffins, and juices, milk and coffee. BUT you aren't allowed to take any food back to your room. It was an ok stay but won't be coming back.
The breakfast was great, maintained by a single, very busy kitchen staff. The maid also worked very hard.
Broken key ring wouldn't hold key (desk person just smiled) , scratched-gouged hallway walls, terrible bed mattress felt like planks, small dark room without a closet, staff didn't communicate so I had to repeat request for a room away from car exhaust 3 times with 3 people, policies not printed but only accessible by qr code, parking pass on bit of paper suggests little money being put into maintenance and facilities, 2 steps from sro or truck stop, not a place to linger and enjoy the property, main benefit was being cheap. Chose because it was rated favorably for single travelers (i assumed female, but nope)
Convenient.
Worn flooring, wood trim, dirty stairway-hair and grit on each step.
In -window air conditioner worked well but room smelled of old grease/food.
We had a a coastal room with a jetted tub, fireplace, comfortable bed and good sized tv. It had a beautiful chandelier over the bed. The room was extremely clean (I cannot vouch for the other rooms), though the building is very old. I think some reviews may have gotten a different review based on cleanliness, when it might have actually been due to the fact that the building itself is old and needs some tlc.
When leaving our room, there was a housekeeper (a young girl with blonde hair) who tossed dirty linens from the next room across the hall a few feet in front of us as we were walking down the hall to check out. The bin in the cart she threw them into and the laundry that had not fully made it into the bin were blocking the hallway and my husband had to wheel the cart out of the way for us to get by. That was pretty disgusting to deal with, so we can see that maybe the housekeeping staff needs to be re-trained.
Overall, the room met our standards for an affordable room with jetted tub. I’d suggest working on the hallway odor. It’s an old building and the hallway carpet probably needs to be torn up and replaced. The room however has not carpeted and was clean and did not have an odor.
The hallway odor, building needs tlc, hallway odor
Comfy bed
People upstairs were quite loud .
Leaving
Dirty, rude staff, week breakfast. I left early and asked to be refunded and did not get a refund. People above my room were loud, yelling, stomping, slamming doors and they were live in employees
