Overall was a great stay
Pros:

The staff where friendly
The meals were excellent loved the shower had great pressure and the bed was so comfortable would definitely stay again

Cons:

We had a lot of trouble with the key card to get into the accommodation area

Cons:

The floor looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in a while. A toenail clipping was on the floor from previous guest. The edges of the carpet weren’t vacuumed.

Room & amenities were adequate for a single night stay.

Cons:

Room was dated.
Facilities were dated.
Whilst adequate for a single night I wouldn’t want to stay longer.
It was however very over priced for the age of the property and what was provided.

On-site restaurant was over priced, lacking in product (included veg/salad station), unable to complete simple service steps (bread before mains), staff rushing us to finish dinner, male colleagues making inappropriate comments to each other whilst in ear shot of underage guests.

It was ok glad it was on the cheaper side

Needs Gordon Ramsey, smells (drain smells) cigarette buts all over the roof near balcony, bathroom floor shower mat was so dirty after been on the floor, towels need a hot wash or updating as they don’t dry.
Noisy 3am bunch had to call reception to shut them up or call the cops.
Could do with fitted sheet and a mattress protector

Cons:

TV Remote wouldn't work on the tv, even changed the batteries and still wouldn't work. Physical buttons on TV were very limited and wouldn't change to a working source so nothing would play. Ended up having to connect my laptop via hdmi and mirror screen to watch something

Great experience for what I paid!!!
Pros:

Didn’t have breakfast.
It was a dated single room that I got reasonably priced. It was very clean and tidy BUT the big bonus was the SHOWER!
It was cold outside & this shower poured out heaps of hot water for as long as you wanted!!
Everything worked in room as it should & I rated the staff highly!
Oh, & they give you a voucher for a freebie beer & discount on a meal.

Cons:

Possibly the single bed mattress could be swapped out for a bit more comfort but this wasn’t a game changer.

We had a great 4 days. Would recommend to anyone.
Pros:

It was central - across the road to the beach and walkway. The restaurant was downstairs. Lovely balcony upstairs. Security door which gave us peace of mind. The staff - were very accommodating. So was our lovely cleaning lady. We liked it so much we stayed four nights.!!! And of course the rates were really great.

Cons:

We are elderly - so the stairs didn’t like us !!

Not so grand Grand Tasman
Pros:

The location is great, very walkable to many eating places. We ate at the hotel one night, and found the food nice, fresh and reasonably priced. There is a Sunday morning breakfast which is very reasonably priced and good value. Staff were great.

Cons:

The Grand sadly is not so grand. It is a very tired hotel and in desperate need of updating. The carpets are old and in some places threadbare. The chair in our room was frayed at the corner, which is something small to fix. Hair-dryer was not available in the room, you could get one at reception. However if you want use of a mirror while using the hair-dryer, you can't. There is one mirror in the bathroom, but no power point. There is no other mirror available. The bed was quite soft and some of the towels could do with replacing. Maybe chains could be put on doors and it would be great to have a safe in the room.
