Having stayed here twice before many years ago I would say the property needs updating.

Pros:

I’ll start with the good part: the location of Kenmore Club is simply stunning. Scotland really shows its full beauty here, and the drive to the club was a pleasure.

The restaurant inside the club serves good food. Even the kids’ nuggets were homemade, which made a real difference. The staff in the restaurant and at reception were pleasant, helpful, and professional.

Cons:

Unfortunately, the spa was a completely different experience.

We came for one night with my daughter, hoping to use the spa in the evening and again in the morning — a bit of sauna, a swim, and some time to relax. However, the moment we entered the spa area, it was obvious how outdated it was. I honestly struggle to see how this is marketed as a 4-star club; based on the spa and facilities, 3 stars would feel more appropriate.

Everything — from the room, to the lockers, toilets, showers, and changing areas — felt very old and did not give the impression of a clean or well-maintained space. The showers in particular were unpleasant, with what appeared to be black mould in the corners.

The biggest shock was the swimming pool. The water was not clear at all; I would go as far as to describe it as murky. It was impossible to see through it. I can only hope this was due to chemicals such as chlorine, but that is only a hope.

What worried me most was seeing what looked like black mould in the corner of the jacuzzi, particularly around the area where the water comes in. The jacuzzi itself looked extremely outdated, and I was honestly surprised it was still in use. My daughter suffers from several allergies, so I quickly got her out as a precaution. In total, we spent no more than 30 minutes in the spa before deciding to leave.

After a pleasant meal, we went back to the lodge, but unfortunately the house next to us was having a very loud party. There was shouting and screaming, and we were unable to sleep. To be fair, the staff did eventually manage to stop it, but it continued well after 11pm.

Needless to say, by the morning we had no desire to return to the spa. We left early, around 6am, and went home.

I would not recommend the club’s spa facilities. If you are going purely for the scenery, the lodges — although not smelling particularly fresh — are decent enough.

What a location.
Pros:

Comfortable bed and great shower. Clean throughout and amazing view from balcony.

Cons:

Mould in the shower which could easily have been dealt with. Swimming pool / gym was dated.
