We were there for the opera festival on a short notice and reserved the room only a few day before arrival meaning that room options were limited and pricey (= market pricing). We stayed in an apartment, which was on a walking distance from the Olaf’s castle. The room was clean and spacious, but you should note that the apartments are in a different building than Hotel Seurahuone. The apartments are in the same building with Hotel Tott and they share also reception and breakfast room.
The breakfast was a very positive surprise. When entering the beakfast room, it felt like entering a geriatric department of a hospital, both due to the interior and clientele. After this first shock, when we started to pick our breakfast, we were very positively surprised. The buffet selection and the quality of the food was way better than in majority of hotels across Nordic countries. This was a big plus and much better than what you can expect in Finnish hotels.
We had pre-booked the parking, but the value for money was questionable. The receptionist asked whether we need it, which should have given an idea. There is plenty of free parking available also on nearby streets, but we picked the parking house for convenience. The parking spaces are, however, very narrow so the street parking would have been better.
