The staff were friendly
Offer more choice for gluten free coeliac guests it became a nightmare at the evening meal as no one had a grasp on how to do gluten free food to a good standard
Location
Was boiling hot, not the hotels fault
Good location in a beautiful historic building, and reasonably priced compared with other hotels in the area
Unfortunately, our stay was very disappointing. There was no housekeeping at all during our stay. There was also no fridge in the room, and despite it being a very hot day, the fans were not working properly.
The quality of the food was not good. We were also disappointed to find that the breakfast included in our stay was only a cold continental breakfast, with no hot options such as boiled eggs.
The wifi was very poor too.
Overall, the standard of the accommodation, facilities, cleanliness, and food was far below what we expected.
Lovely historic building and good location
Needs an update and the room was unbelievably hot. It was a warm day but it’s was to the point where we nearly left and drove home!
Loved how dog friendly it was. Easy access to take my dog out when needed. Staff were friendly and eager to help. Beds were comfortable and everything was very clean.
On ground floor but windows could barely open in a heat wave when cool evening breeze would have been wonderful to sleep. Couldn't reach any soap when bathing. Soap dispenser secured for showering and basin. No reasonably priced cake available when returning from siteseeing and walking. Offered evening deserts but they were pricey. Pool was not operational.
Uitzicht, directe omgeving, kamer was fijn
Weinig variatie in menu met name lunch
Beautiful hotel in an amazing location. Really helpful staff. Great warm pool. Great selection of drinks. Tasty food. Good mattress.
Room quite hot at night.
Location and good breakfast
We specifically booked the hotel because it had a pool, only to find out upon arrival that it was not working. Being offered the pool at another hotel is not the same experience and really affected the atmosphere of our weekend.
* The room was not clean. We found a large dead spider by the window and spider webs throughout the room. I understand the hotel is located near the forest, but cleanliness should still be a priority.
* Very low water pressure in both the shower and sink.
* The bed was two single beds pushed together, which was very uncomfortable and not what we expected for a romantic weekend.
* When I raised our concerns with the manager at reception, I did not feel they were taken seriously. I was simply told, “I will pass your feedback to management,” which was not the level of customer service I expected.
Beautiful hotel and our room was lovely
The pool felt
Slimy on the floor to touch, the water had too much chemicals in it. The hotel had weddings on every day during our staff and it felt like they were understaffed. Our request for more towels and rubbish to be taken from our room was ignored, the hotel needed decorations done to it. Everything seem tired and the staff were not helpful - I had more than one request ignored completely!
Lovely beautiful property nice and clean
Friendly staff
Nice food
I thought we’d booked a room with continental breakfast with a £10’ supplement for hot breakfast
But we had to pay £25 each for breakfast.
The pool was very cloudy and my 4 year old grandaughter asked why we were getting into a green pool !
Set in a beautiful location in the new forest. You have to drive into the forest to get there with wild ponies on the door step. The building is beautiful. Full of old English grandeur. The room was spacious and comfortable. Nice to have bunk beds rather than a pullout. And the shower was excellent
There were flies in the room on the first night. The air conditioning didn’t work and it was very hot. The pool was closed on arrival but we were advised we could travel to the nearby sister hotel and use their pool. When the pool was open it was good. But the pool room is dated and could do with an overhaul. The decor in general needs a bit of an update. Particularly the carpets. Most staff were extremely helpful and friendly but one staff member was slightly sarcastic and seemed exasperated at my request for fresh water and milk. The continental breakfast was delicious but lacked choice.
