Lovely place
Pros:

Lovely beautiful property nice and clean
Friendly staff
Nice food

Cons:

I thought we’d booked a room with continental breakfast with a £10’ supplement for hot breakfast
But we had to pay £25 each for breakfast.
The pool was very cloudy and my 4 year old grandaughter asked why we were getting into a green pool !

It was a generally lovely stay in a beautiful hotel that could do with a little tlc
Pros:

Set in a beautiful location in the new forest. You have to drive into the forest to get there with wild ponies on the door step. The building is beautiful. Full of old English grandeur. The room was spacious and comfortable. Nice to have bunk beds rather than a pullout. And the shower was excellent

Cons:

There were flies in the room on the first night. The air conditioning didn’t work and it was very hot. The pool was closed on arrival but we were advised we could travel to the nearby sister hotel and use their pool. When the pool was open it was good. But the pool room is dated and could do with an overhaul. The decor in general needs a bit of an update. Particularly the carpets. Most staff were extremely helpful and friendly but one staff member was slightly sarcastic and seemed exasperated at my request for fresh water and milk. The continental breakfast was delicious but lacked choice.

Pros:

The hotel is beautiful but in need of some TLC. They also need yo consider getting air conditioning installed in all rooms or provide decent fans which our wasn't. But the staff, the value for money and tge surroundings are exceptional.

Cons:

The continental breakfast was really awful. It was substandard to everything else and was so sad for something that should be as exceptional as the rest of the facilities

Good location but needs updating
Pros:

Very friendly and helpful staff
A good location for cycling in the new forest and very close to Paultons park

Cons:

The swimming pool was the reason we booked the hotel and this wasn’t available for the whole stay. It was also very much in need of an update.
The hotel rooms were in need of an update and a good deep clean, especially the bathrooms. The rooms were really uncomfortably hot and the fans provided were very old and didn’t cool the rooms at all, none of us slept much at all.

Pros:

The staff were actually quite accommodating. The beds were great.

Cons:

We went during the uk heatwave and there was no aircon at all
The place is run down. We paid £259 for one night and it was dusty - the windows doesnt close properly there was no hand held shower which was super inconvenient. Breakfast was poor only one type of cheese and ham available.

Dissappointing for the money spent
Pros:

Location

Cons:

Twin beds only 2ft too narrow to sleep on. Included continental breakfast at £10 a head rubbish. There was a wedding in so rather disruptive of peaceful location.

Appalling service in the restaurant, very hot and stressful stay.
Pros:

Location and outside grounds.

Cons:

Service was awful. Everyone complaining at dinner. I couldn’t have starter I wanted, wife given a starter she didn’t order, kids meals ordered first and came out last, and everything so slow meant a very stressful dinner for everyone.
Room was made up for 3, not 4 as requested. Meant we had to ask for extra sheet and pillow and make up a bed ourselves.
Cobwebs all around windows, I had to deal with 3 spiders as soon as we got in the room.
Was swelteringly hot in the room! They provide a small fan which wasn’t enough in conditions, awful sleep for the whole family as too hot.
In the sink the water hardly ran through the tap, and the hot tap fell apart in your hands when you tried to turn it.
I never usually complain about anything, but honestly was so disappointed with the hotel, and feel deserve at minimum a part refund for what ended up being a very stressful stay.

We enjoyed our stay at Bartley Lodge but wasted time trying to find it.
Pros:

We liked everything about this property the rooms were good so were the meals and the staff were excellent.

Cons:

We took it a long time finding it because the hotel was very badly signed the wording on the sign was nearly worn off and not a stand out colour as many hotels are.

Beautiful hotel in the New Forest
Pros:

Top quality historic hotel in beautiful estate. Warm welcome from very helpful staff. Beautifully clean and comfortable rooms. Attention to detail in decor and top quality bed linens. Delicious dining and breakfast with plenty of choice. Very eco friendly including providing plenty of cold local water refills in reusable bottles for every room whenever needed. Plus silent fans in rooms. This was very important in recent excessive heat.
Secluded hotel but easy access to New Forest, local attractions and Lyndhurst.
Very enjoyable. Highly recommended.
