My family, along with three other families, recently stayed at the Sheraton Mesa Hotel at Wrigleyville West. We booked this trip in mid-December to get away from Chicago in the winter and attend Chicago Cubs Spring Training games at Sloan Park, which is conveniently located directly across the street from the hotel.
We booked directly through the hotel’s website. The reservation process was straightforward, and the booking confirmation clearly stated that our stay included continental breakfast for all guests and free onsite parking.
Check-in is listed as 3:00 PM. We arrived early and submitted an early check-in request through the hotel’s app, fully understanding that rooms may not be available before that time. However, even at 3:00 PM, our rooms were still not ready, and we did not receive access until close to 4:00 PM. This lack of readiness at the stated check-in time set a poor tone from the start.
At the front desk, we were asked whether we had “pre-registered,” which was confusing given that we had already submitted our request through the app. Since our rooms were not ready, we checked our bags.
After checking our bags, we asked about parking and were informed that we needed to pay for daily parking through an app. This directly contradicted our reservation, which clearly stated free parking. At that point, we had no practical alternative but to pay. Within minutes of arriving, we were already dealing with conflicting information and unexpected charges.
The issues continued with breakfast. Our reservation included a continental breakfast, but there was no signage or communication indicating where it was located. We were directed to La Plancha Grill inside the hotel. Each morning, there was no continental breakfast available, and no staff present when we arrived. After waiting approximately 10 minutes, someone would eventually come out from the back and inform us that there was no continental option, despite what had been advertised and included in our reservation.
While our vouchers were accepted for ordering from the menu, service was consistently slow and disorganized. Coffee and water service took an excessive amount of time, and we observed multiple guests entering the restaurant looking for the advertised continental breakfast, only to leave frustrated due to the lack of staff and clarity.
The pool area itself was well maintained, but service again fell short. On several days, there was no pool bar staff available at the listed opening time, requiring guests to go inside to place and pick up orders. This is not consistent with the advertised poolside service. In addition, towels were often unavailable at opening, and trash bins were frequently overflowing and not attended to in a timely manner.
One family in our group experienced an issue with their room door, which could not be properly secured. There was no maintenance staff available to address the problem, and the front desk was unable to provide a clear resolution or timeline for repair. This raised both service and safety concerns.
Having experience in the hospitality industry, we found the overall level of service at this hotel to be well below expected standards. Staff were difficult to locate, communication was inconsistent, and basic operational elements appeared poorly managed.
After returning home, I spoke with another guest who had stayed at the hotel during the same time. When asked about their experience, their response was simply: “What service?” That accurately reflects our experience as well.
Unless proximity to Sloan Park is your only priority, I would strongly recommend considering other accommodations. If you do choose to stay here, be aware that the level of service may not meet expectations.

The hotel is overpriced. The rooms are outdated. Loose tiles and slimy shower in bathroom. Loud construction first thing on Saturday morning. Very few staff, like a ghost town, and no extra hospitality offered in exchange for the unexpected loud construction or lack of amenities. The pool is too cold to swim in. And they charge extra to park your car in their vast empty parking lot.

予約はレイクビューでキングサイズベッドのタイプの部屋だったはずだが、与えられた部屋は反対側でクイーンサイズベッド2つの部屋だった。 もともとベッド2つの部屋を希望していたのでそのまま宿泊しました。Booking.comの予約明細と通りにはホテル側に伝わっているのではないかと思います。
8日間の滞在で予約をしたところ要望タイプの部屋が7日連続でしか空きがなく、1日だけ異なるタイプの部屋を別途の予約しました。 チェックイン時にその事を伝えると同室で8日連続で使用できるように調整してもらいました。差額についても請求はないとの事で助かりました。
朝食付きプランにしました、プランでは朝食の内容には言及がなく、バウチャーをもらって初めてコンチネンタル様式(トーストとジュースとフルーツ)である事、そしてレストランにてそのメニュー(それぞれの選択肢)を知ることができました。コンチネンタル形式の選択内容についてですが、5日ほど利用しました。1日目、2日目の担当厨房スタッフにより選択肢に差異がありました、3日目からはそのことを伝え、均質なメニューで提供してもらいました。

The shower door was obviously gerrymandered because the lower guard was missing and water flooded the bathroom floor during a shower despite turning the shower head away from the door
The restaurant staff was not very attentive and got our orders wrong on more than one occasion
