The Ambrose Hotel
Pros:

The Ambrose Hotel overall was wonderful. The staff was kind, considerate and professional. We had a problem with our window not closing so we could hear traffic outside as well as there were ants in the bathroom. However, when reported I requested an upgraded room with a balcony and the staff accommodated us. I also had trouble getting my wifi on my phone to work. The staff at the front desk could not get it to work as well.

Seemed like a nice hotel, but no ventilation and extra charges left a bad taste.
Pros:

Location was why we stayed there.

Cons:

A/C system blasted from near ceiling height directly onto the bed. No way to avoid it. Had to turn off all ventilation to sleep. Also, surprise charges of $55 per night to park, $29 per night “Guest Amenity Fee” despite using no amenities, and $10 per night for parking tax. None of this was disclosed on website.

Wonderful Hotel and Staff
Pros:

Had a great time at The Ambrose Hotel Santa Monica! The location was perfect, with a bakery and Pilates studio just across the street. Not only was there daily complimentary coffee/tea/wine and bikes for exploring the area but they also offer a car service for short trips — Both Molly and Noelle were excellent drivers, quick to offer recommendations for things to do and knowledgeable about the area. Taylor at the front desk was also very helpful.

The only downside was that there were some ants in the room but I’d still recommend the hotel overall

Pros:

staff were helpful and friendly, you also have access to a driver who can drop you anywhere within a 3 mile limit which was a great bonus!

Cons:

we had to move rooms part-way through but the staff were really helpful

Wonderful Atmosphere and Restful
Pros:

The place is great because it has a car service that drives within 3 miles. Noelle is a great driver and we really appreciate her taking us around. Everything was within distance.

The water pressure of the shower could be a little stronger though.

Exceeded Expectations
Pros:

A group of friends volunteered in the area and were looking for a place for the night that wasn't crazy expensive like the Santa Monica hotels closer to the water. The Ambrose was a pleasant surprise. It is very clean and up to date. Taylor at the front desk, and everyone else we encountered, were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the complimentary glass of wine when we arrived after a long day and the coffee bar in the morning had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend The Ambrose to anyone needing to stay in the Santa Monica area!

Hidden Gem
Pros:

This boutique hotel is a gem! The staff is friendly and attentive. The amenities like happy hour and being directly across from Tartine is an added bonus. There's a Tesla that does free drop off and pickups and our driver Noelle was the sweetest!
