A recommended localised hotel of soe age and character

Character friendly hotel in Central location with parking,
Pros:

Perfect location, with parking and with so much character. The staff were so friendly, I wish I had been able to stay a little longer. I will do next year!

Nice place, maybe understaffed?

Cons:

I know the hotel well, as did my Partner. It was an impromptu night staying there as we were having a night out in Wallingford and didn’t want to worry about a taxi home. The only issue we had was when on arriving; we waited thirty minutes to be allowed to check in. Tjere was no one at the hotel reception, as directed we called the number on the sign which went through to the bar staff. He said “someone is on their way”. Twenty minutes later we went to speak to the bar staff again to be told again there was someone on the way. It was a further ten minutes before anyone arrived. The end result was that by the time we checked in, left our bags in the room and went out; we were essentially an hour late. Other than that, all was OK.

Superb, would not hesitate to book there again. A rare gem in the pub b&b / hotel industry

Everything, there was absolutely nothing to dislike.
It was clean and tidy, in a great quiet little village
superb food, fantastic attentive staff.
Great value for money.
5* place for sure.

Expensive for what it was but the staff were very helpful
Pros:

The location was excellent but the postcode of the car park should be given because it is different from the hotel although attached to it. If this or directions to the carpark were given on the on the website this would be very helpful.

Cons:

We were well within the time stated for breakfast but it had obviously been cooked well before being given to us and kept warm because crispy bacon is fine, although this was leather hard, but crispy mushrooms and very crispy black pudding are not good.

Not up to expected standard

I originally booked for 2 nights - with permission of hotel changed to 1 night - Booking.com totally ignored request and response from hotel and still charged for 2 nights
Room was a top of hotel and ice cold with no heating

Disappointing.
Pros:

Good location.

Cons:

The staff was rude & unwelcoming. Windows in the rooms were painted shut. Quite unpleasant during the heatwave.
