Just location on what I needed to do
Non-smoking room smelled horrible of cigarette smoke. Smelled like butt hole and 3 dirty ashtrays. It was bad. Bed uncomfortable and not room described when we booked. It was supposed to have a lounge area also and did not.
First, the highlight: the location is excellent — literally a 5-minute walk to the boardwalk, which made everything super convenient. Also, the hotel was surprisingly calm and quiet, which was a big plus for relaxing.
The price was reasonable compared to other hotels in the area — but I guess you really do get what you pay for.
Now… let’s talk about the “extras” (or lack of them).
The room description proudly mentioned a coffee pot and alarm clock. Reality check: no coffee pot. When we asked at reception, we were told we could enjoy a refreshing 5-minute walk to get coffee. Nothing like a morning cardio session before caffeine....
Parking was $10 per night — which would’ve been fine if it had been mentioned beforehand. Surprise fees always add a bit of excitement, I guess.
The shower deserves its own special mention: whoever installed it clearly wanted guests to stay alert. The hot water is actually on the cold side, so I almost gave myself an accidental ice bath trying to figure it out. A true puzzle.
Comfort-wise, we got two very small pillows — minimalist lifestyle, I suppose. The dresser drawers were glued shut (maybe to prevent overpacking?), and one broken drawer was just… left there as decoration.
The fridge looked like it hadn’t been defrosted since last winter. Ice buildup included at no extra charge.
The TV… well, technically it was there. But it wasn’t plugged into anything, so unless you brought your own cables or a bit of imagination, it’s more of a visual accessory. Definitely bring your phone if you’re planning any entertainment.
And overall, don’t expect any extras in the room — it’s a very “what you see is what you get” situation… except you don’t always get what you see in the description.
The air conditioning worked and sheets were clean.
It looks like it’s on the verge of collapse. I felt like I was staying in the owners guest bedroom.
Nothing. I have never been so shocked at the state of a hotel room before and then the lack of concern by the manager who was rude and discounted anything I said. The amount I paid for 1 night there was more than I often pay at much nicer hotel chains - this was such a bad experience and the management was rude and blew us off with each of our issues.
On June 20, 2026, I stayed one night at the Alamar Resort Inn after paying approximately $290 for a reservation. For that price, I expected a clean, safe, and functional room. Instead, I encountered numerous problems that made the stay unacceptable.
The television did not work, even after the front desk attendant and I attempted to troubleshoot it with a replacement cable. The exterior door was so loose in its frame that it would not stay fully closed, creating a security concern. The smoke detector was not functional because it had no batteries installed. Several electrical outlets were pulled out from the wall, with some cords appearing to be held together with duct tape. The shower was not usable because the shower head holder was broken, preventing us from taking a shower. The room was also dirty, and we killed several roaches during our stay.
Unfortunately, no other hotels were available within a 20-mile radius, leaving us with no choice but to stay.
When I brought these issues to the manager's attention and requested a partial refund, he was dismissive and offered excuses for every problem. He claimed he lacked authority to issue a refund, although employees indicated he was the person running the property. He refused any refund and instead offered 20% off a future stay, an offer I found unreasonable given the condition of the room and the fact that I would never return.
I was not seeking a full refund, only fair compensation for paying for accommodations that failed to provide basic cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
