I can't think of a more magical hotel we've stayed in for quite a while. The view of Haystack Rock from our room was second to none. We bought firewood from the hotel each night and took it down to the beach to have a fire while the sun set. It was perfect.
This hotel was absolutely perfect. Location is great and the views are just amazing! Can walk easily to all the shops and restaurants in the area. Easy access to beach is the best part. Room was super clean and spacious for our family.
Room was amazing, the beach was right outside my room, the hot tub that’s was in the junior queen room was fantastic. We definitely coming back for more experience.
14 years of celebrating the 4th of July at the Hallmark Resort in Cannon Beach...and counting. We get a 2-bedroom oceanfront suite and you simply can't beat the location and view. Yes, "downtown" Cannon Beach is a 10-15 minute walk, but even that is enjoyable. And the view of Haystack is second to none in Cannon Beach. There are a few stairs to get to the beach so that should be considered but the elevation does give you a commanding view of the beach. Great people watching and the fires at night provide you with a spectacle. The rooms are always clean and well stocked. There are now Apple TVs hooked up to every TV which is a huge upgrade. And the entire hotel has been painted, giving it a fresh look. Our dog has come along each year and we appreciate the reader board with her name on it in the lobby as well as the treats (well, she really appreciates those). There is a lawn for the dogs which is nicely kept (some more stairs to access but it gets the blood flowing in the morning). Ample parking too. The staff is very friendly and we appreciate the free BBQ on the 4th. If you haven't been to Cannon Beach, it's time to go. It's a remarkable town and the Hallmark makes the vacation all the more memorable.
Very mediocre hotel, in desperate need of a refresh! The rooms are small annd the bathroom was tiny with virtually no counter space. There is also no restaurant or any type of food service at the property.
Great amenities, friendly staff, amazing views. Walking distance of delicious food and everything to see in cannon beach
This hotel exceeded our expectations. My friend and I stayed for one night over Fourth of July weekend, and it was the perfect coastal getaway.
The hotel and our room were both beautiful. We had an incredible ocean view overlooking the iconic Haystack Rock and were just a short walk from some of the coolest tide pools we've ever explored. The location couldn't have been better. We easily walked to Pelican Brewery for dinner and drinks, then grabbed coffee at Kith & Keel, which had been recommended by a local.
Our room was spacious, cozy, and thoughtfully appointed. The fireplace was an especially nice touch after a chilly morning walk on the beach. The property had such a welcoming atmosphere, with a mix of families and couples, and everyone we encountered was friendly. It truly felt like a peaceful little oasis.
The only aspect that didn't quite meet our expectations was the onsite spa. We both booked massages, which were enjoyable, but the experience felt overpriced for what was offered. We were expecting more of a traditional spa experience, complete with robes, a sauna or steam room, and a comfortable lounge where we could relax before or after our treatments. Instead, it felt more like a massage appointment than a true spa experience.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would absolutely return.
The view is beautiful because I had a ocean
What’s the worst bed I’ve ever slept in. I expected a lot more for $400 a night. Also this hotel is not good for anyone who has any walking issues. 80 steps to get down to the beach and it’s very steep driveway to walk down to the street and you were not close to town at all not walkable. I didn’t see this explained anywhere I would’ve stayed at another hotel due to this walking issues. also, there are no food service whatsoever at the hotel.
There was centipedes in our bath tub and our oceanfront view was terrible. Our television didn’t work and the front desk told us there was no cable television but the maintenance man fixed the problem. It’s very outdated.
We stayed in the newer Pacific Suites portion of the resort - a room with one separate bedroom with a king bed, and a king bed in the main living area. While it is not ocean front, we still had a view of the ocean and the room itself was absolutely top notch. It was extremely clean and you can tell that every single detail of the room was very well thought out. The furniture was extremely comfy and our family of 5 (including 3 teen/tween boys) felt like we had plenty of room to spread out. Sitting with the windows open, with the cool ocean breeze coming in, with the sound of the ocean and rain outside with the fire place on creates an experience that was extremely hard to leave!!! We very much appreciated having not just a microwave but 2 burners so we could cook a simple meal in our room after many days on the road (touring the Pacific Northwest) eating out. And having the small dining table and chairs tucked away but able to be pulled out was very unexpected and welcomed! We would love to come back!
I was so excited about staying at this hotel. It was supposed to be the highlight of our trip. I was very disappointed. Here is the good and the bad.
The Good: The location was great. Haystack rock was literally across from the hotel. There is free coffee and a restroom(this will come up later why this is a good thing) in the lobby. The staff were nice and the rooms were clean. You can borrow blankets and chairs. You can also buy firewood and s’mores kits. The beds and pillows were very comfortable.
The Bad: There is no elevator in the back buildings. I did not book an oceanfront room because it was more expensive and I had already spent quite a bit, but I did not think that I would have a problem just walking around the building and down the staircase to the beach. I was wrong We had room 346. There were three flights of stairs to get up to our room. Since we were doing a week long tour of the coast we had a lot of luggage. Due to my travel partner’s back issues, I had to carry all of it up to the room. We had a single bed and one queen and we had a on obstructed view of Haystack Rock. This was our first few days on the coast. Every time that I wanted to go to the beach, it was a minimum of three flights down from the room, a walk around the building and then multiple steps to get down to the beach. If you are only going down one time a day, it’s not terrible, but more than once was tiring. The only bonus was that there is a restroom in the lobby so if you can’t make it to your room or don’t want to walk up the additional three flights to go to the bathroom, this was a bonus. The room also has no AC and very little ventilation. They do however have a box fan. If I were in my 20s or 30’s I’m sure these things wouldn’t be an issue, but at that age I couldn’t afford over $1000.00 for two nights. It would have been great to have more information. I would have either spent more and requested a ground floor, ocean front room or chosen a different hotel. Coming from the East Coast, I’ve never experienced not having AC or an elevator. It really started our trip on a negative note. Due to the constant walking up and down several flights of stairs every single day, we were both aching for the first three days of the trip.
So much to do and have very accommodating.
Didn’t stay longer.
Beautiful family and dog friendly resort with the most stunning view on Cannon Beach. Great restaurants all around. would definitely recommend Wayfair and Anna‘s! The ability to have a bonfire on the beach made every evening magical.
Spent a night here while driving to California from Washington. The best thing I have to say about the hotel is that the location cannot be beat. The hotel is right on the water with amazing views of Haystack Rock, the beach, and when the fog clears, the neighboring coastline. There are some good restaurants nearby for some good dining options.
From there, I'm afraid it goes downhill. The rooms we're clearly renovated in 2013 as they advertise, unfortunately they did not keep it up. Scuffs on the walls, stains on the carpet, edges of the carpet ripping up, gouges out of the trim, etc.
I at least know that my room was cleaned before my arrival because there was still cleaning solution in the toilet that had not been properly removed/rinsed out. The windows were not just smudged but had water spots all over them. I bought a couple of water bottles and planned to store them in the refrigerator, unfortunately it was not clean inside.
As far as hotels in the area go, this appears from the outside to be one of the nicer ones, but it is certainly lacking. And for what it is, I deem it overpriced.
Beautiful view and super large and comfortable accommodations.
We had to drag luggage up the stairs. I did not have a dog with me. My room was by the dog astro turf for dogs to do there business. I could pass on this experience.
Fantastic bottom floor, SW corner room with full beach and ocean view. Very friendly staff. Easy check-in and checkout. Our dogs loved the beach. It was their first time. They're used to the high desert of Central and Eastern Oregon. Sand was new to them.
It was on the beach, and just across the street was a great restaurant. The hotel sent up champagne and a note in a bottle to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The staff was great!
