Excellent location for the beach, easy and no issues. The room was very nice, with a wonderful shower and spa/tub (in the room). Bring your own bath salts or bubbles. Walking to town is also super easy. We had an oceanfront room, paid more but the views were worth it. Do yourself a favor and have a fire on the beach, buy wood and wine, chairs were provided to guests.
We return to Hallmark every summer to celebrate our wedding anniversary because we enjoy the stay there so much! We will return next year.
The Hallmark resort is in an unbelievable location overlooking Haystack Rock. It is about a 20 minute walk to downtown, which is absolutely adorable. The town does close up early.
Room was not ready when we arrived showed us where our room was going to be. We walked around the resort and saw what building the room was supposed to be in by the time we went back and checked in (they never contact us we had to go back and see if the room was ready.).
We were now not in that building we were in probably one of the worst rooms on the property, first floor right next to the stairs where everyone goes up and down to the beach. This was our 40 year wedding anniversary and quite the disappointment.
The room itself was not bad. Bathroom was tiny, view was spectacular but location was extremely disappointing. My advice would be to ask for an upper floor while booking.
Manager did compensate us, which was very nice, but was not really looking for compensation was looking for an upper room.
Great resort , rooms were great and balcony overlooking ocean. Tide pools were fully of star fish. Boys loved riding bikes thru town. Great trip.
My son lives in Portland and I wanted to see the coast. A trip with my sisters and nephew plus bringing my son--so we had four rooms. I can say that they were all very different and you definitely want to pay for a view and a balcony, even though it might be a bit more. We had four rooms: 119 (great view of Haystack with small balcony), room 143 (view north of Haystack and some beach view but no balcony and just small window--$580/night), room 153 (room in separate building not on beach but had some slight beach views and had a normal balcony--$640/night), room 339 (no balcony, no view and awkward window of adjacent wall--$570/night). These rooms rooms were already pricey but might have sprung for a bit more because who wants an expensive room with no view? I have stayed in garden rooms or interior rooms before at other hotels to save a bit, but at this hotel, you really need to get a full view of the beach.
The rooms were decent, not luxurious, but they had fireplaces and comfy beds. They provided water in small refrigerators and Keurig coffee. You are not paying for high end & amenities, you are paying for location. The stairs to the beach are numerous and steep so not an ADA friendly place.
However, this hotel is right across the street from a decent restaurant, has bonfire kits ($30) with smores products and wood, provides chairs for sitting on the beach, has very sweet and helpful front desk staff, an indoor pool, allows pets, has a small convenience store, and is in a great location.
Stayed at Hallmark for wedding anniversary. Truly enjoyed out stay. The front desk employees were amazing. When they heard it was our anniversary, we received a bottle of champagne and a cute message in a bottle souvenir. Would 100% be back. Beautiful view from our room of the beach and Haystack Rock
Amazing room with beautiful views! Amazing staff with smooth check in & out! Amazing location, close to shops & restaurants! Can’t wait to stay here again!
Das gebuchte Zimmer und die Aussicht auf den tollen Strand waren super!
Das Zimmer war sauber! Die restlichen Bereiche waren sehr schmutzig!! Für ein Hotel ohne Restaurant und Frühstück zu teuer!
Location is excellent !
The room came with a kitchenette which made it convenient for doing our own cooking in turn savings us money.
Sharing a lovely suite with our daughter and granddaughter for 4 days. The walk to the beach was close. The pool and hot tub were used everyday by us all. Often we had the pool to ourselves. Having a kitchen in the suite was a bonus as we like making our own breakfasts while on vacation.
Parking was a challenge. Not many spots available on hotel property. The underground garage was too tight for a large SUV. The other challenge was having to go to the main hotel for any items like soap, coffee, etc.
Scott was very helpful with local suggestions and made us feel welcome. Our partial view room still had amazing views. We could even see the rock. Go early at low tide for great views of the sea life. The hotel is not far from shops and restaurants. It was very walkable for us.
I was very disappointed in this hotel. Yes, the location is fantastic, being right at Haystack Rock. Everything else was very basic. For $500/night for a no-view room, I was expecting some feeling of luxury. There was none. The room was tiny. The window was small and led to a roadway. The sheets had a stain on them. The staff, service, and amenities were fine... not exceptional in any way. One of the two hot tubs was not functioning. The buildings themselves felt a bit run down. I bet hanging out on the balcony of a beach-facing would have been lovely, but the cost must be outrageous. $500 for a no-view room already felt outrageous enough for me.
We had a wonderful night stay at this hotel. Saltwater taffy, Chocolate chip cookies and friendly faces behind the check-in encounter. Everything about this hotel along with its incredible location was fantastic!
I can't think of a more magical hotel we've stayed in for quite a while. The view of Haystack Rock from our room was second to none. We bought firewood from the hotel each night and took it down to the beach to have a fire while the sun set. It was perfect.
This hotel was absolutely perfect. Location is great and the views are just amazing! Can walk easily to all the shops and restaurants in the area. Easy access to beach is the best part. Room was super clean and spacious for our family.
Room was amazing, the beach was right outside my room, the hot tub that’s was in the junior queen room was fantastic. We definitely coming back for more experience.
14 years of celebrating the 4th of July at the Hallmark Resort in Cannon Beach...and counting. We get a 2-bedroom oceanfront suite and you simply can't beat the location and view. Yes, "downtown" Cannon Beach is a 10-15 minute walk, but even that is enjoyable. And the view of Haystack is second to none in Cannon Beach. There are a few stairs to get to the beach so that should be considered but the elevation does give you a commanding view of the beach. Great people watching and the fires at night provide you with a spectacle. The rooms are always clean and well stocked. There are now Apple TVs hooked up to every TV which is a huge upgrade. And the entire hotel has been painted, giving it a fresh look. Our dog has come along each year and we appreciate the reader board with her name on it in the lobby as well as the treats (well, she really appreciates those). There is a lawn for the dogs which is nicely kept (some more stairs to access but it gets the blood flowing in the morning). Ample parking too. The staff is very friendly and we appreciate the free BBQ on the 4th. If you haven't been to Cannon Beach, it's time to go. It's a remarkable town and the Hallmark makes the vacation all the more memorable.
