This was our 3rd visit and we enjoyed it thoroughly. The rooms are splendid and eclectic. It's a nice way to visit Williamsburg. The complementary wine tasting at Williamsburg Winery is a real bonus and well worth it.
The wifi in the room needs work. Cell phone reception is poor so unless the wifi signal improves, it's difficult to have functional internet usage.
Situated in a vineyard just a couple of miles from historic Williamsburg it was a welcome reprieve from the bustle of our usual life. The staff were very friendly.
The hotel didn’t seem to have very many patrons and the bathrooms could use some maintenance. The entire place had a “sleeping beauty” feel to it- like it once was really nice, but no longer well serviced. The beds were a uncomfortable and creaking disaster.
A charming quaint European country Inn just a short drive from Colonial Williamsburg. The Wedmore Place is on a historical sight and one of the oldest vineyards in the state with a restaurant, hiking trails, wine tastings and tours, and venue spaces.
The hotel is located in a beautiful location and is an easy drive to the historic sites of Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. Our room was clean, really nicely furnished and the staff were very friendly. The associate who checked us in gave us local recommendations for dinner which was a great help! The surroundings of the hotel are very peaceful and tranquil so after a long day of exploring, it was nice to have a calm place to relax! Breakfast was good each day! We stayed for three nights, our room was cleaned after our second night!
The breakfast was the same both days. Nothing real special.
I did not get the room I reserved. I booked through Groupon & something went wrong. I was told I was getting an upgrade, but the room was not near as nice as the one I chose.
El lugar donde está el hotel es un viñedo, me gustó muchísimo
La cama está blanda para mí y la llave del agua fría también salía caliente. (Las dos Llaves calientes)
Looks like a French countryside🥂
Bed was comfy, shower was excellent. Complimentary wine tasting would have nice if we drank. Nice breakfast . The staff got plenty of ice for us. Excellent location for colonial area. Bocce court.
Pool was closed inthe beginning. No refrigerator or clothes drawers
American Castle
Location near winery
Did not live up to expectations!! TLDR: Choose somewhere else for your money until they get new management or renovate this place. Roaches, dust bunnies, no parking reserved for hotel guests, no wine tasting available, dirty pool with safety issues.
The winery was hosting an event the day of my arrival and no parking had been reserved for hotel guests. Luckily I am able bodied but not everyone should be expected to carry suitcases from far away on the winery grounds. With no notice or discount in price, I was also told that the included wine tasting would not be available because of the event. The tavern was also closed and would not serve dinner. My reasons for staying at this hotel instead of another one were all crossed off and there was no message ahead of time. At nearly $400 a night, I would expect at least parking near the hotel!
In my room, the bathroom light was flickering and full of roaches. Like a daggum haunted house film! I did some yoga in my room and realized there were dust bunnies around the floor. In the fitness room, the air conditioning vent was hanging from the ceiling over the elliptical. Then I went out to the pool to hang out and the pool deck is full of cracked tiles and sharp broken pieces that would cut you! No one has swept it! The water is murky and full of tree debris and bugs. It is a 90 degree June day so hotels should have their pools ready for the season!
It was a disappointing stay. Budget hotels are cleaner and better maintained.
Breakfast staff was a little inattentive.
We found the facility unattended and the grounds deserted in the evening. The front door was left unlocked. There were men in the woods behind the facility with rifles . A call to the front desk went to voicemail. After leaving and contacting local police we were told the next day they were “ a couple of guys fooling around target shooting “. We contacted the supervisor the next afternoon who apparently was unaware of what had transpired. Her profuse apologies were then followed by several weeks and multiple calls and emails to get our money refunded. You’re on your own here.
Pleasant staff
Wish the tasting room was open later
The nightmare starts when you pull onto the 50 yard road to this large nice looking building. The road has more jarring potholes than a Mideast war torn city.
Sometimes someone is at the front desk to greet you. Other times you are on your own. Zero people running the place. Remember “the Shining “ movie?
Spooky and startling.
Last morning nobody showed up to prepare breakfast . We met 3 women who arrived the night before. Nobody at the front desk. One of their beds had no linen.
We had Big Foot and his wife in the room above us. We heard every move they made.
Apparently this place is owned by former F1 race driver. Someone needs to tell him his hotel has serious engine problems and needs help.
Beautiful grounds and Inn was delightful, clean and lovely helpful staff. Will stay there again!
Location was perfect and made us feel like we stepped away to Europe. We were too late for the complimentary wine flight, but they accommodated and gave us each a free glass.
The only thing was that there was no mini fridge in our room - we had the Brittany. Not a dealbreaker but my dinner leftovers did not make it.
The included wine tasting was nice.
Restaurant on the property was closed during the week so we had to drive out and actually needed reservations on a Tuesday evening. WiFi was under construction and intermittent.
The building was lovely. I like older buildings with unique furniture so it fit my idea of a nice place to stay. The staff were also very helpful and the breakfast area was nice. I wish that i had more time to read in the library
Internet was horrible. I felt that I was on a desert island. This was also mentioned in a review. I can’t believe that Wedmore hasn’t solved this problem
