Allocation of rooms lacks thoughtfulness and awareness
Pros:

Grateful to the male receptionist who understood why a wonan travelling alone in a hear wave might not want the allocated ground floor room with casement windows open to passers-by. Very odd that it had been booked for a single woman really ...

Cons:

Being allocated a dark ground floor room with windows that opened wide enough to allow passers by to slip in.

Fabulous!
Pros:

Beautiful building, decor and historic memorabilia was superb!

Cons:

Ground floor room window wasn’t fully sealed when closed, as if attempts had been made to force open from outside! Forgot to mention to front desk on departure. Everything was fantastic generally.

If we had been in the main building then this review would have been glowing.
Pros:

Staff, Dining Room, Food and Service
Convenience of position

Cons:

Room 409
Small and so hot and stuffy.
Windows wide all night and fan going full speed.
Only way to reduce temp was to wedge door open. Still bad sleep.
Staff tried to relocate but no. Bathroom basin broken and far too small, not proper basin for face washing.

Would have loved it, had it been an normal temperature
Pros:

Great location - very central - pleasant restaurant

Cons:

No air conditioning in the rooms, which were unbearable in a heatwave. The summer heatwaves are only going to get worse… they need to deal with it and get air conditioning installed. Even when it cooled down outside, the room was unbearable

Disappointing. An uncomfortable night that was expensive
Pros:

It was in a good position. The staff were very helpful. The decor was nice.

Cons:

The room was small, on the second floor and the window did not open. It was hot, stuffy and unpleasant. The breakfast was mediocre- nasty bread and low fat yoghurt. There was no parking. Given the price it was very disappointing.

Stayed for my 70th birthday and really enjoyed it
Pros:

Service and food was really good, couldn't fault it
Central location in Bakewell is busy because it is popular

Cons:

The car park is very small due to it's location and might be a problem if the hotel is full

Fun stay. Great hotel. Friendly staff. Fantastic town.
Pros:

Food was great. The rooms were comfortable. Management was very helpful. One of the housekeepers helped us locate some items in the town we needed. Great overall.

Cons:

The internet connection to the room failed. Not really the hotel's fault, but it did hamper some things we needed to get completed for our trip.
