This property is in the centre of the city and served as a base for us to do a walking tour of the city to see all the free art and sculptures. From the welcoming valet service to the checkin desk- this hotel understands hospitality. The rooms was a good size, neat and clean. We had a lovely view of the city skyline from the 10th Floor. A generous breakfast was served the next morning, and making your own waffles was a novelty and iconic.
I can't fault this hotel.
The ambiance and the location
There was no designated parking for the hotel. I dont like valet. Im not comfortable with strangers driving my vehicles.
El desayuno con poca fruta y poca variedad de productos
This is honestly the poorest managed hotel we have ever stayed in. Where do I start….
We arrived at 10pm and couldn’t access the hotel, we rang the bell as the sign instructed and even though there was an employee at the valet desk, he didn’t let us in. We certainly don’t look homeless and thankfully a returning guest let us in. Then we had to go to the 2nd floor to check in, weird.
We stood in line with 10+ people for 25+ minutes with no sign of any check in staff. We called the phone number, tried to find the valet , nothing. Finally a front desk employee arrived.
This hotel is in downtown Calgary, so many homeless people and very concerning that we had no way of contacting hotel staff when stranded outside. BIG safety issue.
The following night we had to let 4 guests in who had trouble accessing entry with their key card and had been waiting for a guest to return. This was at 11pm, not good.
I did bring it up with an employee who assured me that there were always two people on staff…. Well that wasn’t our experience at all. We have felt very “ abandoned” and question their security. Again this is an area with a very big homeless and drug issue. Clients should not be subjected to this uncertainty.
Got to our room, a/c was on at 15°… a little cold and why?
We had been told that we would only get housekeeping every other day, no problem but if that’s the case then leave enough coffee, paper cups etc for the two days.
When we eventually got our room serviced, empty kleenex was not replenished, glasses were left dirty and don’t get me started about the low quality towels, a bit of bleach would go a long way. They are stained and threadbare!
Fairfield by Marriot you need to reevaluate the way this hotel is being managed. It’s surely below your corporate standards!
Look forward to your response.
central location with decent breakfast, next-door to restaurants, bars, mini-breweries, attractions, etc.
no
The room was as expected, and the breakfast was average.
Unfortunately, I forgot my suit in the closet when checking out. When I contacted the hotel afterward, I was told that it had not been found. Given that I know it was left in the room, this was disappointing and left me concerned about how lost items are handled. While I cannot say what happened to it, I was surprised that the suit was never recovered or turned in.
The company I was working for put me up on this property. The refrigerators are on a stupid timer and if you don’t remember to resetit nothing stays cool. The elevators have to be the slowest in Calgary. Other than that, the staff is great. The hotel is clean and the beds are comfortable.
Closeness to downtown
Being charged for storing our luggage
Hôtel satisfaisant
Petit souci entre hôtel et booking concernant paiement, qui nous a dérangé un peu avec la réception à l’hôtel
