Hotel Cazomalli was lovely! Besides the fact that it was adorably charming with an old world Mexico feel, the staff was incredibly helpful and kind. If you like church bells, you hear the beautiful sounds of the cathedral bells. Also I like the classic town feeling where literally everything you need was in all the neighboring shops- food, shopping and of course Mezcalerias. You're also within walking distance to Templo Santo Domingo and a very nice Michelin Star restaurant! There was of a woman with her food cart shouting "Atole, churros calientitos, atole!" each morning as she moves up the block to sell her goods each morning, which is just part of the daily life of the town. It is only 5-7 minute walk from the ADO bus depot - which was SO convenient for us as we came traveling from Veracruz. The surrounding town was beautifully decorated because of the Guelaguetza festival (which happens in July). I LOVED that we could walk to so many restaurants, the Santo Domingo cathedral, the cultural museum, the Zocolo, and SO MANY shops, within minutes!! The staff helped to arrange trustworthy taxi service (for example when we traveled to Monte Alban 30 minutes away). There was only one reason why I didn't give it a perfect 10: The bathroom needs some basic updates. The bathroom amenities felt very outdated: old shower, and basic things that would have helped like a counter or shelf to hold toiletries and hooks to hold towels and clothes. The bed was very firm but I was still able to sleep. Nevertheless, it was a super fun trip and it truly had everything to do with the location and wonderful guest service of this hotel. I would most definitely book this hotel again!!
Bathroom was outdated with no hooks for towel and clothes, and no counter space for toiletries. Towels felt stiff (maybe they were hung dry) and the water controls were tricky to balance the warm water.

Die Lage des Hotels ist super. Das Hotel befindet sich in einem super schönen und sicheren Viertel mit vielen Cafés und Restaurants. Man ist auch innerhalb von 10min zu Fuß im Zentrum. Mit einem Auto kann man auch direkt in der Gasse davor problemlos parken. Das Gebäude an sich ist schön, hat einen sehr netten Innenhof und eine nette Dachterrasse mit einem schönen Ausblick. Als wir ein Problem mit dem Wasser in unseren Zimmer hatten, hat ein Herr uns schnell helfen können. Er konnte auch gut Englisch. Die Klimaanlage funktionierte gut.
Der Rest des Personals ist komplett desinteressiert und kann überwiegend kein Englisch. Der Zimmersafe funktionierte nicht. Das Badezimmer war total veraltet und dreckig, so dass an der Duschwand noch ganze Haarbüschel von den vorherigen Gästen klebten. Handtücher werden erst nach drei Nächten gewechselt. Dabei hatte jeder von uns ein Duschhandtuch, wir hatten nur ein kleines zusätzliches Handtuch gemeinsam und ein Fußbodenhandtuch mit Flecken und Löchern. Unser Zimmer war im Erdgeschoss direkt neben dem Stiegenhaus. Es war komplett dunkel, obwohl es ein großes Fenster hatte. Dieses konnten wir jedoch nicht wirklich offen lassen, da es direkten Blickkontakt mit dem gegenüber liegenden Zimmer hatte und die Stiegen direkt davor waren. Auch wenn wir den Vorhang nicht zugezogen hatten, war es sehr dunkel in unserem Zimmer. Die Beleuchtung im Zimmer ist sehr grell und macht das ganze nicht besser. Das gesamte Hotel ist sehr hellhörig, man hört jedes Wort, das am Gang geflüstert wird. Die Betten sind steinhart. Das Zimmer hatte für uns überhaupt keinen Charme. Für uns passte das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis leider gar nicht. Für den Aufenthalt war's dann okay, aber ich würde das Hotel auf keinen Fall wieder buchen und war sehr enttäuscht, da die Bewertungen eigentlich sehr gut schienen.
