We booked a one night stay after returning from our honeymoon as a stop over before meeting our family the next day.
Booked a reasonable price at around £80 which was ideal and with onsite parking. Checked the reviews beforehand and rates highly. In hindsight, many of the reviews for the restaurant.
Check in was smooth, no issues. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. Quite a lot of hair in bathroom and bedding which was really off putting and cobwebs in the bathroom and around the pictures frames. Just left us feeling the room hadn’t really been given a deep clean. We actually avoided using the shower. I should have gone back to reception and mentioned however we were exhausted from travelling and just crashed out. We did sleep well which was a positive.
We weren’t asked how our stay was on leaving which was disappointing as this is how I wanted to address our issue.
Regardless, it was cheap but you do expect the room to be clean. Not on our return list.
Lovely food location ideal for travelling on M1 friendly staff and nice gardens
great first impression. sweeping driveway presents a lovely looking house. Also quick and friendly check in
Room itself slightly dated with old furniture although good size. large modern TV but only showing a few channels. No AC, which perhaps isnt surprising given the age of the house. But apart from a fan the only option for ventilation is to open the french doors, which I wasnt comfortable leaving open overnight or when in shower.
No fridge or water in room
food for dinner and breakfast very good. Breakfast selection fairly slim, but hand cooked full english was great
Main plus is the location, down a country lane, means a very peaceful nights sleep. Didnt even hear anyone from adjoining rooms
Had lunch with friends to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food and service were excellent. A place of timeless elegance.
Recently stayed at Whitley Hall for a second time, both business trips (this time treating myself to a Junior Suite). What a fantastic hotel and restaurant and what wonderful staff making it a place I’m highly likely to visit again in the near future (might treat my wife next time !!). Can't recommend enough.
Don’t go if there’s a wedding on (they do 2 weddings at a time and one is bad enough) The rooms used for other guests are above the drive and it never stops, expect - all night - under your window, staff on break/ very loud wedding guests/deliveries/taxis it’s 24/7 so expect no sleep.
Badly behaved guests are expected to be dealt with by the bride and groom - even though the hotel T&C’s say rapid response security or police will be called and the wedding party will pay . Other guests have to sign their check-in form which says bad behaviour will result in you being asked to leave - doesn’t seem to apply to wedding guests - Very bad incident with one guest obviously totally out of control - still shouting and screaming into the small hours. Threatening another guest- when we raised with the manager nothing done - the following day we spoke to a different manager and we were offered an upgrade if we went again - insulted - we won’t be going again! We expected to hear the guest had been removed. If the bride and groom are expected to pay for security or police perhaps they should reimburse us for our ruined stay!! Shame because the serving staff were very helpful and welcoming. Food was good.
Lovely well kept rooms and grounds,
The rooms do get very warm.
Mattress bed was terrible
Mattress bed was terrible
Lovely hotel and stay apart from loud music in reception from 6.30 below our room, despite asking reception to turn down or off, request ignored. Disappointing end to lovely stay
Had lunch with friends couldn't fault the meal really well presented, lovely setting & friendly staff gave excellent service
I have now been to Whitley Hall 3 times and every time it’s been excellent from the food where there is a fabulous selection and expertly cooked to the friendly staff who time your meals to perfection, no waiting and no rushing. My brother in law and sister who love to go there when they visit, and have eaten in some of the best restaurants in the world, absolutely love the atmosphere and hospitality plus the food there will go nowhere else. Well done Whitley Hall.
Great location
Room 14 being overlooked .. maybe put lace curtains up
We had a very good lunch at Whitley Hall. Food was excellent and the service was excellent. Dealt with some members of staff who were all very helpful.
Enjoyed it so much that we have booked again on Friday 15th May which is our 61st wedding anniversary.
Lovely overnight stay
Beautiful setting and friendly staff.
Although there was a wedding on when we arrived it did not impact on our stay in any way.
Incredibly reasonable room rate which included dinner and breakfast.
We will definitely will be back.
Celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary here.
We were greeted at reception by two friendly members of staff.
We stayed in Room 16, well, it was a suite actually. So beautiful. We have never stayed in a room with a four poster bed!!! I felt like we were royalty- everything is so plush! There's everything you could ever want- and more!
The bathroom was amazing. There was a deep jacuzzi bath with different coloured lights! Thick bathrobes to use too.
I liked sitting in lounge to look at the menu and order our evening meal. Every member of staff is dressed immaculately and are so friendly and polite. Nothing is too much trouble. What a great team.
We were also presented with a 'Happy Anniversary' dessert- how thoughtful.
Breakfast was impressive. Beautiful fresh fruit salad, juices, yoghurts, cereals, toast, followed by a cooked breakfast.
I had the best porridge ever!
We have dined at Whitley many times and have never been disappointed.
We look forward to going again and would thoroughly recommend Whitley Hall.
Thank you all so much for making our 50th Anniversary so memorable.
Comfortable.
Over priced restaurant.
Unable to get an invoice for my stay despite several requests and promises to email it to me - major issue when you need to reclaim on expenses!
