This is a lovely boutique hotel, that has a warm welcoming feel to it. Its gorgeous. Staff were lovely. There is small attention to details in the furnishings and common areas. We stayed here twice. The fees were excessive, but apparently this is the case all through Edinburgh due to the festival.
As guests staying twice over a week, we felt the charges for minding luggage were excessive.
The rooms are small and our first room facing the main street was open and enjoyable to watch the city from the window. The second stay was in another room which felt a little claustrophobic and we didn't enjoy it as much.
Think this suits small luggage, weekend travellers. We had larger cases due to the long length of travel.

No lift but we knew that. Toiletries were very basic, no tissues, showercap etc although we probably could have asked for them and received with a smile
El hotel estaba muy bien ubicado. La habitacion era amplia y la cama era muy comoda. El personal fue muy amable y atento. Ideal para recorrer edimburgo a pie.

Leider liess sich das Fenster im Zimmer nicht einfach öffnen, da deffekt. Es hat kein Lift in die Stockwerke, dis ist zu beachten, wenn jemand nicht gut zu Fuss ist.
extremely short distance to get the tram to and from the airport, which were far more comfortable than the airline buses to and from the airport. The room (Linlithgow) was on the first floor and gorgeous views of the Firth. Really high ornate ceilings, large, modern bathroom fixtures - just hands down great hotel room. On top of all of that they were in constant communication about a post I would be receiving at the hotel from Oban. I had left behind one of my medications in Oban and 28 York Place was very efficient about when it arrived and placed it in my room - top rate service. The staff were extremely friendly and courteous! I couldn't have been happier. The location is minutes from Princess street and the city centre, but the room was quiet.

I found the bed to be uncomfortable and too firm but that's personal preference.

Das Hotel lag zentral in der Nähe des Bahnhofs. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Ausstattung von Zimmer und Bad war sehr modern und die Sauberkeit war auch sehr gut. Im Zimmer waren Snacks bereitgestellt, und man erhielt dort umfassende Informationen zu den möglichen Aktivitäten und Restaurants in der Nähe.
Insgesamt war das Zimmer recht klein, da hätte man bei dem Preis etwas Größeres erwartet. Insgesamt war das Hotel auch recht teuer, da gibt es mit Sicherheit günstigere Alternativen, die genauso gut ausgestattet sind.
Stayed two years ago & rebooked this time as well. Central to all we wanted to experience. Very clean. Staff were exceptionally accommodating, from Alice on check in/out to our lovely cleaning attendant to the really helpful girls behind the bar. Nothing was too much. The fringe festival was on and gigs were held on site which added to the happy vibe of 28 York Place. I hope to visit Edinburgh again & would definitely choose to stay here!!
