Overall it was well placed for our theatre visit and to explore the city
Pros:

Great location for exploring Oxford. Spacious room and bathroom

Cons:

Lack of air on was noted on a very hot night, however electric fans were provided on each bedside - we had to keep them running all night to be able to sleep.

Great Location, Ridiculously Priced
Pros:

We paid A$785 for a Saturday Night. The room was only a double (too small for a 6ft 2in guy with any size girl!). Quite like the high bed and complimentary water (still and sparkling) albeit warm but…the shower cubicle was separated from the WC by the entrance “foyer” (step) which was also a health and safety hazard with a step up after opening front door and a step down into the bedroom and a step up/down into shower and (separately) the WC. We kept the lights on all night and put cushion by the steps to highlight them and make sure we didn’t fall. It was horribly hot and the two small fans had no switches apart from on/off, were incredibly noisy, and had no remote/instructions. The comfortable bee was the only place you could watch the TV with two chairs the other side of the TV with no way to turn it around to watch it and no table between the chairs. Did I mention that there was no fridge? 5* pricing with less than 2* amenities. No bar, no room service, no restaurant, but they did have continental breakfast for £20 pp which we didn’t sample. Oh yes, no lifts but an amazing number of stairs!Great location though 😂😂😂

Horrible experience for an outrageous price
Pros:

The location and he staff.

Cons:

The hotel is extremely run down. It is a carpeted wooden building. The carpet smells horrible and the wood flooring under produces constant noise. The Deluxe room is not as depicted in the pictures and its location, at the entrance of the building, makes it the most noisy rooms. Its bathroom is the smallest possible with tape glueing the shower area and one can hear everything from the floors above.

Vanburgh hotel simply stunning
Pros:

Staff are amazing from being greeted at check in, taken to the most amazing room. The location is fabulous as you walk 50m down a little road and it opens up into oxford....what a beautiful place to be from the architect, shopping and foodie heaven. Vanburgh staff second to none, they just want you to enjoy your stay....we loved it and will be back. Huge thanks.

Cons:

Absolutely Nothing.

Not a good place to stay during hot weather
Pros:

The location is great, the rooms are pretty spacious.

Cons:

It’s not really fair to blame the hotel for a heatwave, I know. But while it was hot outside, my room was even worse - like being in an oven. There’s no air conditioning, and even with four fans on full blast it was only just bearable. The minifridge in the room didn’t work, so reception had to bring up an ice bucket. And the temprature control on the shower didn’t work, so couldn’t go for a cold shower to cool down.

Also - totally unreleated to the heatwave - the breakfast is very basic. Not really worth paying for, better to go to one of the neighbouring cafes.

It was just ok.
Pros:

Building, location and the staff were great.

Cons:

Room was too hot although staff did provide me with a fan.
There were no dressing gowns.
Dining area is small and the breakfast choice was very limited.
It was very expensive for what was on offer.
