Poor customer service and misleading advertising
Pros:

Spa facilities even though we had to pay and book to use them , something that wasn’t mentioned at the time of booking

Cons:

The property advertised on Booking.com gives the impression that all guests stay in the same main building. However when we arrived with another couple we’ve been informed that our rooms were located in 2 different buildings with quite a distance apart. The receptionist was cold , unfriendly and refused to help with the request to stay together. Transparency is important and had we known this in advance we might ve chosen a different hotel. We were expecting a higher standard of customer service for a 4* hotel

Lovely location in beautiful countryside but not luxurious
Pros:

Lovely location - beautiful views over the lake. Amazing walk from the hotel around the neighbouring fields - well worth doing if you have time. The restaurant is good although the food isn’t amazing. The waiting staff were very attentive. The old hotel building is very picturesque.

Cons:

Our room was a large twin room in the more modern part of the hotel- the size was great but the windows were blocked by plants and there was hardly any light and no view out. There was no fridge/ mini bar. The decor was a bit dated but it was clean.

Still a lovely place to stay.
Pros:

Love the location - stunning. An oasis away from the city centre

Cons:

The swimming pool used to be complimentary with your stay. Now 7-9am is complimentary and there is a £20 charge even if you’ve had a spa session and staying over.

Very poor value for the price. The staff seemed stressed and in short supply.
Pros:

Area was nice. Size of the room was fine.

Cons:

The room was dark with little natural light. We paid £175.00 (extra £20.00 for the dog), for a room and stay that was worth nearer £85.00. Poor value.
The breakfast was very ordinary and basic, again I expected more considering the amount paid. We had to eat in the lounge (with the dog) but there was no set table, no staff around and no directions on how to actually get any breakfast. It was some distance away from the breakfast area and there were no trays to carry breakfast up into the lounge. We had to work it out and have several trips carrying what we could and finding cutlery, cups etc on other tables. The quality of the food was very poor with scrambled egg that was inedible.
For the price I expected very much better.
We had hoped to charge our car and although there was an electrical charging point it was not working. Very disappointing.

Overall a good stay and nice hotel
Pros:

Great location beautiful setting room very nice

Cons:

I tried many times in the 24 hours before my stay to contact the hotel to request an early check in so I could get ready for a wedding . My calls were unanswered and email not responded to disappointing

The hotel is overrated over priced, dirty, untidy, photos to prove, furniture in room was dirty, food was appalling, cho
Cons:

No air conditioning, no safe in room, no alarm clock as advertised, no fridge in room, no water available considering hottest week on record, rubbish left lying around hotel and visible. Room had stains on carpets and on furniture, hadn’t been cleaned, bath legs rested on wooden blocks. English breakfast not available one morning, choice very minimal, just toast, one bowl of mixed fruit, a plate of melon slices, cereal in small boxes, no croissants or pastries, coffee from one jug, tea from sachets, minimal effort. No alternative for people with allergies etc.

Lovely hotel and nice location.
Pros:

Beautiful location and a lovely room. It was in the hall on the island on the top floor so great views of the lake. Clean room and friendly staff.

Cons:

There was a wedding party on the same night which meant that there were a lot of people and noise. It felt a bit strange to walk through their drinks and canapés to get to our room.
