Magical. Exceeded our expectations in every way possible. A unique experience, brilliant staff, location - everything. I could not recommend it more highly.

As we sit in the airport on our way home, reflecting on the incredible stay we just had at Il San Pietro, we felt compelled to write this review.

My wife and I travel frequently and have stayed at many luxury hotels around the world, but the level of service at Il San Pietro is unlike anything we've ever experienced. From the moment we stepped through the doors, every single staff member welcomed us with genuine warmth, kindness, and a smile. Within no time, everyone knew us by name, making us feel truly at home.

One of our biggest concerns before arriving was our strict kosher dietary requirements. The team went above and beyond to accommodate us. They arranged for kosher meals to be brought in from Rome, prepared everything using brand-new utensils dedicated specifically for us, and handled every request with flexibility and genuine care. They never once made us feel like we were asking for too much.

What impressed us most was the attention to the smallest details. Every morning at breakfast, instead of asking what coffee we wanted, they would simply smile and ask, "The same as yesterday?" It may seem like a small gesture, but those little moments made us feel truly cared for. That level of personal attention is what separates great hotels from truly exceptional ones.

A special thank you to Massimo, the Food & Beverage Manager, who was always available, always smiling, and constantly making sure every meal and every detail was perfect. Thank you as well to Luigi at Il Carlino Restaurant—you are an absolute legend. We have rarely met someone in hospitality with such genuine warmth, positivity, and passion for taking care of guests. And thank you to Ivan at breakfast, who consistently made sure every request was handled flawlessly.

We would also like to recognize the General Manager. We have never seen a General Manager so present and hands-on. He was constantly around the property, greeting guests, checking in, and making sure everything was running perfectly. That level of leadership is clearly reflected throughout the entire team.

As for the hotel itself, the setting is simply breathtaking. Perched above Positano with spectacular views, a private beach, and a convenient shuttle into town, we truly don't think there is a better location on the Amalfi Coast.

What makes Il San Pietro extraordinary isn't just the beautiful property—it's the people. Every member of the team genuinely seemed happy to be there, happy to help, and passionate about creating unforgettable experiences for their guests. You can feel that culture from the moment you arrive, and it made all the difference.

This wasn't just a hotel stay—it was an experience we'll remember for the rest of our lives. Without hesitation, we give Il San Pietro 10/10 and cannot wait to return.

Having stayed at Il San Pietro for many years, it remains an absolute favorite of mine and quite simply one of the most incredible hotels I have ever visited. Nestled into the cliffs of Positano, the arrival sets the tone for the entire experience: arriving at the bottom by boat straight from Capri, then ascending right up through the heart of the cliff via their iconic elevator into paradise.
Every single detail of this family-run hotel is executed to perfection. The family and their team do an extraordinary job, remaining consistently hospitable, genuinely kind, and wonderfully welcoming year after year.
The amenities are second to none. They feature a massive organic garden where they grow all of their own vegetables, which are then used in the incredible hotel meals. There is a fantastic tennis court, and down at the bottom of the cliff sits the most breathtaking sun lounge area I have ever seen in my life—the perfect spot to watch the yachts go by or arrange to take one of the hotel's boats out on the water.

Just coming back from another unforgettable stay at Il San Pietro. Every year, I wish I could leave a 6-star review! The combination of utmost comfort, genuine hospitality, traditions passed through generations, and meticulous attention to every detail keeps Il San Pietro as the unchallenged #1 on our travel list.

I could write pages about the unique and beautiful room designs, the exceptional service throughout the hotel, or the delicious steak Florentine at Zass. Instead, I’ll share one small example that shows why this hotel is like no other.

Our first trip to what has become our “home away from home” was in 2008. On that visit, we met many couples who had been returning to this incomparable property for years — even decades. Now, 18 years later, my wife and I are meeting the next generation of Il San Pietro devotees.

One day by the pool, we chatted with a younger couple about their first visit. The wife mentioned to pool manager Pasquale that her bathing suit had blown off the terrace during a storm the day before. She thought nothing more of it — until, just 20 minutes later, Pasquale appeared with her bathing suit neatly folded.

If you’ve seen photos of Il San Pietro, you know it’s built into a cliff with a serious vertical drop outside the terraces and balconies. We’ll never know how Pasquale found it, but the fact that he even thought to look says everything about the hotel’s philosophy.

Positano is quite a tourist place. The hotel Sirenus is quite overrated. Stay at The San Pietro a remarkable experience! In two nights you can see and walk the town and live the experience! Then continue your journey to nearby towns that offer the same beauty without the crowds!

a group of selfish people: we had made a request, but they had nothing, I'm very emotionally invested it was supposed to be a surprise. That said, the place is enchanting, just like all of Positano.

Words can’t describe the experience of staying at Il San Pietro di Positano. Everything exceeds the highest standards of luxury - the location, property, rooms, dining, and especially the staff.

The training surely does not have the word “no” in its curriculum and we were truly treated ed like family. I very likely could name every employee I interacted with but the GM, Andrea, Martina at the pool, and the man that wears so many hats, Pasquale, truly made the stay incredible.

I’d like to say it’s a once in a lifetime experience but we’ve already booked our return for June 2027!!

The hotel kindly organised transfers from Naples airport ( and not even a complaint from the poor driver .. who waited 90 minutes longer as we negotiated the long immigration queues ). 83 minutes later we were in a haven of tranquility with welcome Bellinis in our hands on the terrace.
Our stay was full of surprises from the Paddington cat nip by our beds at night ( fabulous dark chocolates full of blood orange) to a special artisan ceramic tile to take home and an upgrade to a wonderful room with a balcony and loungers overlooking the ocean. We needn’t have packed much - the room had beach bag/ flip flops and wonderfully a clothes steamer and even mosquito spray ( although we didn’t meet one)
Last here in 2018 and there are lots of lovely new touches with complimentary cooking and cocktail classes and even a speak italian lesson.
The service is exemplary- the manager Andrea was ever present and so thoughtful and made our stay special. Huge thanks to him.
We dined at Zass and had the tasting menu which surpassed expectation- the night air filled by sounds from the cellist and pianist. So romantic.
We took cocktails on the terrace every night with sushi treats from the van of delights. It was an easy shuttle to positano 24/7 too.
Do get the concierge to organise in advance a Da Adolfo lunch as they collect you from the jetty and they will get you a great table.
The service by the pool was exceptional. The tennis court looking out to sea unique.
And Just when I thought life couldn’t get better here after a fine lunch of pasta at Carlino the gelato arrived to our sunbeds at the sea !! Choc and peach and then we floated on rubber rings ….
We thought we would have to leave for our Naples flight before lunch started today at Carlino but wow the manager there made it happen for us - how often does that happen !

This is the best hotel we have stayed at in over 5 years and worth every penny. The very best simply got better.
It is timeless elegance and you will want time to stop so you never have to leave. We did.

My husband and I stayed at this property for five nights. We have traveled to nice hotels all over the world and this property was one of the best. Our room #4 and view was spectacular. Service was A+ and so friendly and responsive. A shout out to Rosalia at the front desk. She is a real asset to this property as is Lorenzo, the concierge, who helped me with some things before the trip. You won’t be disappointed if you stay at this hotel.

Exceptional hotel. One of the finest in the world. Our first time to Amalfi Coast and this hotel and it exceeded all of our expectations. Amazing views from throughout the hotel and our views from our room were magical. The staff and service were impeccable. The food was fantastic. This is a unique property and simply a must stay in going to Positano. It's expensive but so worth it.
