Very welcoming staff
Our bathroom door had a hole in it like someone had kicked it. I was surprised they let us stay in that room. Very tired hotel carpets very worn with ground in dirt. When we booked it said free parking. We were charged £15 pet night.
Room was lovely and location is perfect for a night out and close to shops.
I found the bed to be very comfortable, the bedding and pillows were of good quality. I mainly slept well in this bed.
The property is in a very central location, however I would not recommend a central location in this town as the town centre is, to put politely, not what it once was.
The hotel is a little bit sad. The general cleanliness was not great, every time you enter the hotel from the street you are met by a large group of flies. The lobby is fine, but that’s where the general upkeep and cleanliness ends. Our rooms had paint coming off the walls, squished insects on the curtains, mould in the shower grout, grubby carpets etc.
There was one lady member of staff who was very friendly, but for the most part staff made little to no effort to interact with guests as far as we were concerned.
Breakfast was disappointing, I found the coffee machine to malfunction a couple of times and there was debris in the juice dispensers. When trying the cooked breakfasts it was low quality. We gave up on the hotel breakfasts after day two and went elsewhere.
Our rooms were cleaned late (18.30-19.00) and the housekeeper made it clear they would prefer we weren’t in the room, which was not nice after a 10hr training day.
The location was fine but rather noisy.
The breakfast was good value.
The interior needs lots of money spent on it and a full reburbishment. It's very dated and and requires modernising. The bedroom was very hot.
The furniture was very brown.
Value for money and been in the middle of town
Our shower broke and wouldn't shut off it took them a couple of hours to try and fix and was still messing around in bathroom after 12.30 am we had work the next morning so I asked for a room swap. Which they did but at around 1.00am.
I asked for the manager in the morning to ask for a refund and was met with he's not here and he's going in a meeting.
Check in great and they upgraded us as we were late travellers - which was very kind of them so thank you for that.
The shower never had hot water in the morning. The room needed a thorough clean and dust and wipe of all mirrors and shelves. The whole place needs a good clean and some tender love and maintenance. Especially the hot water boiler!!

Everything, rooms were old and dated, not very clean, bed was old, falling apart and uncomfortable. Bathroom was renovated but was in a terrible state, hardly any hot water at even non peak times. Extremely over priced for the state of this hotel and the staff weren’t exactly welcoming. This definitely does not live up to the Mecure standard.
