Extremely Frustrating-Never again

Extremely dirty, apartment not cleaned, found drug bag in toilet, floors sticky, bin had muck on the lid, hair coming out of drains, outdoor chairs rusted legs couldn't sit on, toilets filthy, bottle full of cigarette butts, heater did not work, dirty utensils and I could go on. Spoke to the manager we couldn't sort other accommodations after driving 12hours to get there - his excuse was the cleaners had slacked off, so agreed to a 30% refund and still have not received it 1month later. Emailed genesis and still have had no response, also have tried to contact booking.com and are always unavailable.

We had to relocate.
Pros:

Good location, staff were friendly and happy to help.

Cons:

Ground floor apartment - The apartment was filthy with flu poo and mould. No flushing buttons for the toilet etc. Definitely not the place to stay if you have asthma or respiratory concerns.

A very enjoyable and restful stay

Great location, run down and dirty.
Pros:

Location was perfect, pool was a bit damaged but great for the kids.

Cons:

Apartment was dirty, carpets stained and worn, mouldy and ill fitting curtains, microwave was rusty and filthy, hob was smashed, kitchen is setup for 6 people yet only one coffee cup, 4x bowls etc. Icing on the cake was the cracked window on the 3rd floor that looks like it can fall out at anytime.

Cons:

Mold on curtains.
A/C didn't work in bedrooms, units rusted out.
Dirty floors and walls..
No fly screens on windows or doors.
Very dated and damaged decor.
No information pack with equipment operations or WiFi details.
Dishwasher leaked all over the floor, not usable.
Lighting was dull and kitchen was badly lit.
My family had a major swim meet on the Gold Coast, had I been able to secure more accommodation I would have done so.
Very disappointed.

Our room was so dirty! Like it hadn’t been cleaned at all, tow nails on the matt that my baby was laying on.

For the money, it was good, but not great.
Pros:

Great location. Plenty of room.

Cons:

You can tell the owner of the apartment we hired doesn’t want to spend money on their investment. It needs a lot of maintenance and upkeep. Dodgy appliances etc.

Pros:

Great location to the beach and Cavill Avenue. The apartment has plenty of room for a family. Pool, bbq and garden area is lovely. The beds and bathrooms were clean. The cost was very good and we would come back and stay again.

Cons:

On arrival reception was closed even though we arrived in the time that it should of been open as stated in the reception time board. We waited for quiet some time for the receptionist to arrive after we called them. The room was very dated and could do with up grades. The toilet roll holders falling off, no towel rails in main bathroom. We stated 2 children and booking said 2 single beds but arrived to 2 double beds. We were able to seperate 1 bed as it was 2 singles pushed together but we were then short linen. The oven in the kitchen was dirty and only had 1 rack which made it hard to cook for a family. There was left over ice and drinks in the freezer from previous people. There was no vacuum so the carpet became very dirty while we were there. Both clothes Airers were broken and useless, they need replacing. The games room was not how it was advertised. Very dated and missing what was shown. Needs to be updated. We stated with friends and their apartment has issues too.

The entire experience was not pleasant. We feel what was advertised and what we got was deceitful . Like a scam

On the day of arrival we had tried all day to try get hold of the key to no avail. It was only at about 3pm that we were able to get hold of the manger. When we entered the apartment there was a smell, bathrooms were dirty, bed sheets stained, windows were dirty. Kitchen facilities were not clean as if not cleaned after last use. We did take a video as evidence.

We decided to not stay at this property and booked other accommodation @ Soul hotel.

Great family unit for the price but needing a couple upgrades.
Pros:

The hotel location was great, right in the heart of Surfers, but far enough away from the club strip.
The hotel had 2 pools, one unheated and one heated with a spa, plus play room with table tennis and a pool table.
Parking onsite underground, Q1 next block over, Beach at the end of the street, 700m.
Light rail is about a 400m walk. A 3-bedroom ground-level unit with direct garden access to both pools.

Cons:

The toaster was faulty and was tripping a circuit, but it was reported.
The A/C in the main bedroom and the 2nd bedroom was not working, only blew warm air at 25 degrees. The A/C unit was very rusted and reported.
3rd bedroom had a pedestal fan, celing fans would be a great upgrade.

Pros:

The pool facilities and BBQ area were excellent and a real highlight of our stay. The pool was well used by our family of 4. The apartment was a fantastic size for a small family, offering plenty of space and comfort. The oven appeared to be brand new, which was great, and the beds were very comfortable.

The apartment offered great views of the beach, which really added to the overall experience. It was also conveniently located within walking distance of public transport, making it easy to get around.

Overall, it represented good value for money.

Cons:

The overall cleanliness of the apartment was average. While basic cleaning had been done, there was little attention to detail. One of the stovetop elements was not working, which was inconvenient during our stay. The bathrooms are functional but could benefit from some updating.

We stayed for 10 nights and felt that a more generous supply of basic essentials would have been appropriate for a longer stay. Only a small amount of toilet paper, dishwasher tablets, and dishwashing liquid were provided. There was also no basic cleaning equipment available — we had to purchase a dish brush and cleaning spray ourselves in order to keep the apartment clean.
It may be worth reviewing the cutlery and crockery provided, as the current selection could be improved.

Additionally, while providing one towel per person may be reasonable for a short stay, it felt insufficient for a 10-night booking. Could benefit from providing face cloths.

Overall, the apartment was adequate, but a few improvements in maintenance, amenities, and attention to detail would significantly enhance the guest experience.

Genesis Apartment Surfers Paradise
Pros:

The heated pool, spa and games room was a hit with our kids. Great location being only 1 tram stop away from Cavill Avenue and 1 block away from the beach. Day and night views were fantastic.

Cons:

Full balcony access was great but I wish there was deadlocks at the top to make me feel better about having children on the 15th floor.
