Right in middle of town, but still lovely and quiet
Went over for one night for the midwinter snow supper. It meets all our expectations. Fabulous room, fantastic food, amazing midwinter atmosphere, and the service as always was great.
Very pleased we decide to stay. We had park studios unit 5 not a big unit but was fine for the two of us. Very little road noise as unit set back from the main road . Clean and tidy. Was a very cold day heater kept the unit very warm. Comfortable bed and great shower.
We stayed overnight in The Homestead Suite of The White Swan, and it was absolutely faultless. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the shower pressure was brilliant. The suite was immaculately clean, and it was a space in which it was easy to unwind and relax.
I can see why they offered ear plugs, too. While it was extremely quiet when we stayed (and incredibly rainy), I would expect that in the height of summer it could be noisy because the room sits over the garden. Even so, any potential noise is a small trade-off for such a charming setting.
But, really, it was the small details that made it a wonderful stay: from the incredibly friendly welcome upon arrival, to an electric blanket on the bed and large, fluffy towels in the bathroom; from lush products, a deep bath, and huge shower, to fresh milk, cookies, and gourmet tea and coffee options. The list goes on!
It’s too bad we only spent one night before travelling onwards. There’s loads to explore in this corner of NZ, and The White Swan’s the base from which to do it. Do yourselves a favour and stay here. What a place!
Service and the environment were excellent

Celebrated my birthday with a wonderful dinner at The White Swan. The food was gorgeous (we had the lamb rump and the brisket reuben), the drinks were superb (if you’re into cocktails, I recommend the Riversdale Rosebud) and the service was outstanding! We were looked after by Charlee, who was an absolute delight and made us feel incredibly welcome. In fact every member of staff we spoke to had the same sunny outlook, even though it was a wet and gloomy night outside. It’s easy to see why this place comes so highly recommended. Thank you!!!
Amazing room.....clean, comfy, bed was a cloud......food sensational......shower you could have a party in......you must go and stay.....highly recommend
We had visited Greytown for some time out. The White Swan upgraded us to their ‘Suite’. Stunning on all counts. Its location was on the ground level wit the car park right along side. The staff were very cheerie from Reception to the staff in the restaurant. Totally enjoyable. Probably the best accommodation we have stayed in in some time.
It took us a while to master the TV and its apps.!
Excellent location and we were upgraded to the Pinot Noir suite it was stunning.
