Outside area was nice
Communal areas not so clean
Felt crowded
Friendly staff and good location for visit.
Shower was a bit of a trickle.
Great food, lovely staff.
I am originally from Darwen and know the location intimately. I have also stayed here previously. I was in Darwen for family reasons and this was the reason for my choice. That said, this hotel is superb, it gives excellent value, is set among some beautiful gardens and has a rich, local history. In common with many historic buildings there are limits on what the owners are legally allowed to do, this means there are some aspects you can consider “quirky” but it is a very nice and comfortable experience. Compare with the “bubblegum” premier inns or other chains by the motorway, you get a unique experience in an amazing property at a very reasonable and competitive price. The dining is excellent and the hotel is just 10 minutes walk from this East Lancashire town center. The staff are very friendly and accommodating to every request. I would stay here again in my visit to Darwen.
There is nothing to not like.
Lovely hotel, convenient for what we needed for the night, staff were all so polite and our room was spotless.
Breakfast was served until 9.30....we arrived at 9.10 ish and there wasn't much cooked breakfast left. Fair enough we left it a little later, however there was more bacon and sausages brought out after we arrived. The sausages weren't cooked enough though.
The staff were great, kind and helpful.
The mold and damp in the rooms, extractor fans didnt even work. Refund for a cot never arrived.
The staff were very friendly upon arrival and answered all our questions about the stay.
There was a wedding on during our stay but happy to say we weren't kept up through the night.
The shower could have been a bit more powerful but we made do.
Everything was amazing. Real sense of grandeur.
Old charm lovely location very quiet even though wedding was on
Quality ingredients breakfast
Shower curtain needs changing
It was in a quiet area a set back from the main road. A country house style property which was beautiful
Felt a little cut off from main services but it would be stunning for a wedding/romantic weekend away.
Pillow smelt dunny
Addutional charge for breakfast
