Only place to stay in the Walzing Matilda town of Winton.
Pros:

Excellent location. Amazing history. Classic pub stay. Comfortable rooms with great views overlooking the main street and distant country views. Excellent country style meals and cold icy beer on tap. As an added bonus we had great entertainment in the open top bar garden. Top spot to watch the red sun set and the twinkling stars ascend the dark night.

historic hotel in middle of town with very welcoming staff.
Pros:

We were picked up by a lovely lady from the hotel and given all sorts of great information. This historic hotel is in the centre of town and the owners a re doing a great job of doing it up. Live entertainment in the beer garden was great . Sunday morning breakfast was beautiful. Very friendly place to stay.

Great accommodation and will definitely stay there again on our next Central Queensland trip.
Pros:

Location was great. There was an excellent Bakery across the road for breakfast - opens at 4am if you want to get away early!

We had dinner in the dining room which was also well priced and delicious.

We are definitely going back to Winton to explore more about the Dinosaurs fossils and Opal. The staff was very kind and

I was pleased to stay in a hotel that was rebuild in 1955. Loved the ambience and the structure of the building with rich colourful settings in the hotel.

Cons:

The water. As the water comes from underground the hydrogen sulphide gas smell was too strong. Even after shower it lingers on you. actually you can smell way before entering Winton city.
