Cozy Heritage Stay with a Restaurant Next Door
Pros:

The hotel was so cozy. The warm, dark, antique colours throughout made it feel like a step back in time.
Plenty leather couches in the lobby and at the bar, was incredibly comfortable, and the decorative carpets added so much charm.
A perfect Heritage style.
King bed was comfortable and the tv size was great.
It was also so convenient to have a restaurant opened all day/night next door.

Cons:

Happy hour was fun, but there was just one bartender, so the service was a bit slow, not his fault as he was doing his best.
I hope they get some extra help next time at happy hour!
First day of winter we arrived and the 2 fireplaces they have there weren't on the whole day & evening. Check-in at 4 p.m is really late, I’ve never encountered such a late check-in before. Pillows were overly soft. Other than that, everything was great.

Disappointing honeymoon

Unsafe stairwell

No welcome or ability to check in and out times on wedding day and honeymoon

Beautiful location but loudest place I’ve ever stay
Pros:

The hotel is very beautiful. Gardens and pool are great

Cons:

The room was very small and cramped. Had a tv but no remote to use it. The walls were paper thin so you could hear other guest even if they were on their phones so no privacy, the pipes in the wall for plumbing rattled anytime the people above you had a shower. The road outside was so noisy I had to buy ear plugs from the local chemist. Staff at the virgin the first dinner I had were very inattentive I only got one drink order in and when I asked for the desert menu they took 20 minutes to come back and take my order and by that stage I was over it. Lunch staff were great

Pros:

This is a comfortable, traditional hotel with friendly staff. The open fires were a highlight.

Cons:

The rooms are big enough to have two lounge chairs which would be useful for couples and also side tables. A pod coffee machine would be nice.

A hotel with a lot of character
Pros:

Loved the lobby area. Was wonderful to relax with a drink by the fireplaces. The grounds are lovely too. The sauna was a bonus. The breakfast was delicious at the Virgin Restaurant too.

Lounge area was really nice in evenings with comfortable leather chairs near the fire

Cons:

Rooms were underwhelming and expensive for what you got. Wall art was overwhelming and everywhere. Felt half renovated. Photos oversell the place.
