The Columbia Hotel is a non-smoking establishment and respectfully ask guests to adhere to this policy. The location was great, the staff were friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast in the morning was also very adequate with great quality coffee.The price was also reasonable.
There was no air conditioning in the room and we stayed during a hot spell. We were able to open the window however no air could circulate due to a prospect security board placed in front of the window. There was however a fan which was better than nothing. Due to the heat, it was incredibly hot and hard to sleep. The carpet needed attention in our room as it was buckled and easy to trip over. The Columbia is a lovely old building just a little bit tired in places.
We really liked the decor and cosy atmosphere on the ground floor. The breakfast was really good. Pain au chocolat and fresh fruit salad were the best! My son was hoping for some type of eggs but there were none. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They often got us ice cubes for our water bottles before we headed out to tour London during the summer heat wave. We greatly appreciated that. Excellent location directly across from Hyde Park and we had fun exploring the city by using the Tube, the buses and renting the Santander city bikes, just around the corner from the hotel.
The window in our hotel room was really dirty. Could there be a better / nicer looking way to secure the window when open, so no one can enter from the outside balcony? We wanted to leave the window open to aerate during the day while we were touring but didnt.

The floor boards in our room were EXTREMELY creaky. We adjusted to it after a bit, but at first it was annoying.

Schon ziemlich teuer. Das Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen. Zum Duschen muss man sich bücken, es gibt keine Ablage im Badezimmer.
Nice location with public transport nearby to access the city. The beds were nice and firm and the windows offered a nice breeze in the heat of the summer. Staff were friendly and helpful and there was happy hour daily which was a nice touch. Overall a nice stay!
The location was brilliant.
It was run down, grubby. Little things like the TV looking like it’s from the 80s and even the lightbulbs being different shades in the lighting. The room was like an oven so hard to sleep in though they did provide a fan.
