Wir sind erst um Mitternacht im Filoxenia beach hotel angekommen,herrlich unproblematisches Einchecken....
als wir in unser Zimmer kamen,welches alles bietet was man braucht,sehr gutes Bett und alles äußerst sauber, bin ich auf den Balkon und ein Glücksgefühl wie auch Freiheitsgefühl hat sich bei mir vom Kopf bis in die Zehenspitzen verbreitet......die ganze Nacht habe ich mit dem Rauschen der Wellen ein und ausgeatmet.....
Herrlich ausgeschlafen durften wir dann direkt beim Meer ein vorzügliches Frühstück, sogar mit selbst gebackenen Kuchen, frischem Obst wie auch Schinken und Käse,sogar ein phantastisches Omelette wurde uns von der so hilfsbereiten und lieben Charo an den Tisch gebracht,auch dafür nochmal vielen Dank......
Wir haben nur einen Fehler gemacht,nämlich jenen,dass wir im vorhinein nur 2 Nächte dort gebucht haben, da wir uns erstmals im Westen ein Haus gemietet haben,doch....und das hätten wir nicht gemacht,wenn wir uns nicht soooooo wohlgefühlt hätten...wir verlassen das Haus im Westen nun 2 Tage früher als gebucht und werden noch 2 Tage,die letzten unseres heurigen Urlaubs, in "unserem" Hotel Filoxenia in vollen Zügen genießen

I really appreciated that the hotel is located on the quieter side of the city, away from the usual tourist crowds and noise. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and it had everything needed for a pleasant stay: a refrigerator, air conditioning, a kettle, cups, coffee and tea, fresh bed linen, towels, and a balcony with a drying rack, table, and chairs.
Although the hotel is situated on the main road, there was almost no traffic noise. Instead, we could enjoy the soothing sound of the sea, complete peace and quiet, and a beautiful sea view.
The beach is literally just a few steps from the hotel's terrace.
The breakfast was delicious and of excellent quality. There was a great selection of vegetables, fruit, hot and cold dishes. For such a small hotel, the variety and abundance of food pleasantly exceeded our expectations.
The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help.

Cons:

The shower enclosure could use some updating, and the bathroom is quite small. Howerer, neither of these things affected our stay, and we didnt mind them at all.

La vue sur la mer.
Le petit déjeuner gargantuesque.

Cons:

Pas de parking. Il faut se garer à 400m dans un parking public gratuit qui fait peur.
Piscine sale et à l’ombre.
Plage très très sale, remplie de plastique !!
2 tables seulement à l’ombre pour le petit déjeuner.
Baignoire d’un autre temps. Minuscule avec une marche pour s’asseoir. Je fais 1,78m et ma tête touche le plafond.

Nur wer gerne in einem Pool ist wo es keine Sonne gibt ist es da ideal.Gibt hier keine Sonne da es unter dem Hotel und direkt neben der Straße ist. Direkt neben der Hauptstraße. Pool ziemlich alt Salzwasser. Dusche am Strand Salzwasser. Das Meer ist schmutzig .. Das Hotel ist einfach komplett in die Jahre gekommen. Parkplatz ca.300 m öffentlich. Sind immer mit dem Auto nach Rethymo am Abend zum Essen. Waren nur zur durchreise 2 Tage zum Glück in diesem Hotel. Da der Pool und Meer nicht unseren Vorstellungen entspricht.

A fabulous stay and would definitely return again.
Pros:

What a wonderful 4 nights we had at Filoxenia Beach. Maria and the staff are amazing and so helpful. They even carried our suitcases up to our room while we were parking the car. Breakfast was a very good spread every morning and was varied every day. We thoroughly enjoyed eating out on the terrace overlooking the beach and waves rolling in. The only room available when we booked was 203, which is the small room on the second floor. I was a bit apprehensive due to comments from other people who stayed in this room, but it was really pretty and we managed perfectly. It has the largest balcony (with a great view of the fortress) and we left the door to the balcony open at night so that we could hear the waves. The room had aircon if you needed and you could hardly hear the traffic from the road if the window was closed. A bit of a walk to the parking (5 mins) but it is definitely manageable, just watch the pavements! The beach is pebbly, so bring rubber shoes with, otherwise the hotel have a few pairs that you can borrow. Shower is a bit small, but then we were on holiday and managed. Rooms cleaned and refreshed every day except Sundays. We had a lovely time there and would definitely return again.

Lovely small hotel. A bit out of town
Pros:

Lovely clean hotel. Wonderful staff! Very helpful Great view over the sea. A little bit of a walk into town but doable. Breakfast every morning was lovely and great to have a bar on the few days that we did stay nearby.

Cons:

Nothing really . It was a good experience.
Probably a bit too far out of town but we did know this in advance. Our bad!
The shower was a really tight squeeze jammed in behind the door and a struggle for a tall man!
