We recently stayed at Servatur Playa Bonita for 12 days. Overall, we had a good holiday because we hired a car and explored the island, but I wouldn't rate this hotel as a 4-star property. It has some great points, but there are also several areas that need significant improvement.
The positives first: our room was lovely, spacious, and kept very clean throughout our stay. Fresh towels and toilet roll were replenished daily, which was appreciated. The restaurant itself is spacious, and the hotel's location is excellent, with the Irish Centre just a short walk away and plenty of taxis and bus stops nearby, making it easy to get around.
Unfortunately, there were quite a few negatives. The balcony door latch was broken, so whenever it was windy the door would swing open and bang, which was frustrating. Our room also tripped the electricity twice while using the hairdryer, likely because there's no extractor fan in the bathroom to remove moisture.
The food was the biggest disappointment. It was very repetitive, and I wasn't keen on the quality or appearance of most of the meat, so I ended up living on pizza, fries, and the occasional vegetarian or dairy option for most of the holiday. Hygiene in the restaurant also needs improving. There were flies around many of the tables and all over the jams, honey, and fresh bread. The cold meats, cheeses, and salads were left uncovered, which meant they were also covered in flies. This wasn't pleasant to see and put me off eating many of the options.
During our stay, the lift in Block 1 was out of service for a full day. Climbing four flights of stairs in the heat was exhausting and certainly wouldn't be practical for anyone with mobility issues.
The pool area was another downside. By 11am it was completely packed, and all of the sunbeds had been reserved by around 7am each morning. There also weren't enough tables or seats for the evening entertainment, making it difficult to find somewhere to sit. We had to end up leaving and going to our room. The lifeguard was also very strict, telling people off for playing ball games in the pool, which took away some of the fun atmosphere.
Most of the staff were fine, but a few of the restaurant cleaners had a poor attitude, which didn't create a welcoming environment. We also asked to keep our room for just a couple of extra hours on departure day because there was nowhere else with air conditioning, but this wasn't possible. We tried to sit in reception but as there was no air-con, we made the decision to spend €50 on a taxi to the airport instead rather than waiting on our transfer in sweltering heat until 6pm.
Overall, we still enjoyed our holiday thanks to getting out and exploring Gran Canaria, but the hotel itself fell short of expectations. With improvements to the food, restaurant hygiene, pool management, customer service, and maintenance, it could be much better. At the moment, I'd say it's an average hotel with a great location rather than a true ‘4-star’ experience.

This room was covered in mould. Made us unwell on holiday receiption completely aware when we raised it. Unsafe and not clean should not be able to give this room out to people.

Just sitting around the pool on a last day at the Servatur Playa Bonita and thought I’d write this review.
This is not a moaning review. We genuinely had a fabulous week here but there are a few things that I’d like to address
Rooms are spacious and kept clean on a daily basis. There’s a balcony and airer to dry towels costumes etc. It’s a bit cramped but we don’t tend to sit on a balcony so didn’t bother us. There was a choice of pillows and a kettle/fridge in the room. Toiletries are provided shower gel etc but our shower did flood the bathroom so we aimed it at the wall. Not a big problem really but did make the floor a bit slippery
Hairdryer also in the bathroom and shelf to put your own toiletries on too. In all a lovely room. We faced some bars which could be noisy but your on holiday so some noise to be expected. Ear plugs are our solution to this.
Food is excellent. Good variety and there was a chocolate fountain. Best was the soft ice cream machine which you could make your own cones or tubs.
Only gripe was the choice of vegetarian meals were basically the same each day. Only today did they hv a lentil curry and veggie paella. My son & his girlfriend are veggie but they made the best of it.
Location is great for shops and restaurants and the beach is also just a short stroll away.
Pool was lovely. There were plenty of sunbeds but I could see this could be a problem in the height of the season. What was a problem was the lack of umbrellas and this did cause a few arguments amongst holiday makers. We didn’t hv to get up extraordinarily early. 8am to secure our beds/umbrellas but there were a few people after 9am who couldn’t get beds or if they did couldn’t get umbrellas.
Some guest walked around asking if a party needed there’s. Some just took them if there wasn’t anyone around.
Personally I feel a no reservation policy of beds etc to be placed before 10 when the pool opens and anything laid before that is removed by staff labelled and a note left for the owners to collect from the life guard. This has worked very well in a few other hotels we’ve stayed in.
Poolside can get slippery but just walking with care sorts this out.
Entertainment was good you joined in as much or as little as you wanted.
If like us you weren’t leaving the hotel till the evening there’s a shower room which can be booked at reception which supplies all you need.
Staff on the whole are polite and friendly. The hotel is kept clean and personally found it to be excellent value for money

We are currently enjoying our last few hours at this hotel and we are gutted, would love to stay longer!
Food was lovely, something for everyone ( even fussy eaters would be well fed here! )
Big rooms cleaned every day!
Plenty of sunbeds around a large pool, or by the jacuzzi if you want peaceful times
Entertainment team work hard with activities and dont pester you to join in
Only downside for me was evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss, but being in a central location, theres a few bars only a minutes walk away ( o’neils, mulligans) so this wasnt really a problem!
Set a lovely table up for my birthday at hubbys request including cake and champagne!
Staff hardworking, lovely and friendly!
Would definitely come back!
