Lovely main building and bar. Nice, polite staff. Very nice outside areas.
Room very clean.
Awful bed, like sleeping on York cobblestone. Mattress absolutely worn out. Whole bed frame creaky needs replacing. Bathroom smelly even though clean.
The location, close enough to Durham to take taxis
Dinner menu is a little restricted.
Easy check in and can park outside room. Room had everything required for a one night stay
The fire alarm going off at 6am that woke myself up! Also no air con or fans provided in the extreme heat
Clean, easy to park and access to restaurant. Short drive to tge city.
Q good vslue stop-over. Good breakfast
No complaints
I have stayed at the Honest Lawyer many times, it is my first choice when I am in the area.

Well situated for access to Durham and surrounding area as on a bus route and not far from a park & ride. Plenty of free parking at the hotel.
Our room, 54, was large, with storage space.
Breakfast was freshly cooked to order.
Good walking locally near to the R. Wear.
The room was very warm as it was over the kitchens, and somewhat affected by the large extractor vents on the flat roof outside windows.
Good location and friendly staff.
Decor shabby, carpets need replacing. Rooms need redecorating.
Good value, good location. Helpful staff at check-in and for cleaning
The bar staff were a little…direct.
It is a bit dated but that is reflected in the price
An ideal location for our stay after attending a Wedding in Northumberland, enjoying so much we actually stayed four nights. All the staff, from the reception, bar, restaurant and cleaners were excellent, their care, compassion and concern for our wellbeing was most comforting. The quality and generous portions of food was most enjoyable and the glass of local beer rather nice. The parking outside our room was a bonus. We shall be back !!
There was absolutely nothing that we did not like
Location
Black mould in the en-suite bathroom!
No air conditioning
Noisy toilet when flushing
When I checked in I was told breakfast started from 7am the next day and we needed to eat early for our Saturday schedule but when we reached restaurant at 7:30 was told by staff it was actually 8am start for breakfast on Sat 🤦♀️which it did say on room info but I had not checked this as lady on reception had told me it was 7am. When I mentioned to staff member on check out that I had paid for breakfast in advance but we didn’t have it as had to leave early he simply said - ok!
I think a nice gesture would have been to offer a refund for this as it was very inconvenient to have to get breakfast elsewhere and I obviously had to pay for it elsewhere so effectively paid twice!
Very clean room, comfortable bed, excellent shower.
A ground floor room meant we could only have the window open a crack so it was a bit stuffy in the summer heat.
We also stayed later in he week after stopping at the Hotel on route to a wedding in North Northumberland. See review for stay 25th to 29th June
Absolutely nothing NOT to like !!!
We had a ground floor room in the large annex block where each room had an individual parking place outside the door.
The hotel was very easy to find and a five minute drive to the Park & Ride into Durham
Perhaps the plumbing could be updated
