Clearly a fab location and the staff throughout were very friendly and helpful. Also a fab breakfast menu.
We have visited the pub on several occasions but not stayed over for a number of years. The location of the room was fab however they do need a little uplift and possible redecoration.
Characterful property, location was amazing, overlooking the harbour, parking although not free was very easy in a very reasonably priced car park opposite. good bar and restaurant facilities, plentiful breakfast.
The small things - outside of our part of the building was tired, window frames needed painting, window needed cleaning, lightbulb needed changing, curtain needed hooking onto rail properly, bed was uncomfortable / too soft, wardrobe door couldn't open fully as bed frame too close to it, carpets a bit old. Great character but in need of some modernisation, also quite expensive.
Lovely reception staff.
Excellent location in the centre of town.
Good breakfast and nice to have a nice bar and restaurant with good food in the day/evening.
Nothing really
The room had a beautiful view overlooking the harbour. The breakfast was superb and all the staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Unfortunately the pub next to The Old Custom House holds live music gigs and on Saturday night the music went on until 11.30pm. It was incredibly loud in our room even with the windows shut. Not the fault of The Old Custom House but even so ....
Excellent location and helpful and friendly staff.
Nil
Room was grand but wasn’t vacuumed during our 4 night stay. Breakfast was good and staff were so friendly and helpful. Location was perfect right in the centre.
Room could have been vacuumed daily when it was cleaned. Our iPod went missing we searched everywhere as did a staff member but it never showed up.
because of illness we tried to cancel our booking well within the agreed time limit we were met with the most unhelpful process and I believe there were untruths about who we booked with. we were mislead and a refusal to pay back agreed fee less cancelation fee was not forthcoming unless we contacted a non existent provider it felt like a con please avoid if you have doubts about your stay
Location
Uneven floors in the room and a very old bed/mattress. WiFi unreliable and very limited channels on TV. Whoever was resetting the room managed to flood the table by knocking the water holder on the coffee machine; meaning my books, car key, tablets and glasses case were left sitting in a pool of water all day.
Great location close to pubs and restaurants.
A bit old and in need of some refurbishment.
Great location
Lots of stairs and creaky floors
My room was the dingiest room I've stayed in for decades. The paint was chipped and peeling, the lampshade was worn, the desk chair upholstery had nasty stains on it. This was very disappointing and overall the room felt quite dirty. But bathroom was clean and everything functioned. I knew I was in for a less-than-sanitary stay when I saw a long streak of bird poop on the pub entry doors. The carpet in the lobby was worn and stained. However, staff was friendly and cheerful and the breakfast was good.
I really don’t know what to say I was expecting a lot more for my money Hotel was dated and needed a good clean carpets were grubby and the room we had was over the delivery area from 07.00am both days we were woken up by doors slamming
Quite a lot
The location is amazing. The customer service is excellent and the breakfast was very good
There wasn't anything we didn't like. Everything was very good.
Great location. Very comfortable mattress and pillows. Quality bedlinen. Delicious breakfast. Lovely staff. Cheerful and friendly.
The building is old - made up of several buildings and the interior is a bit of a maze inside as a result. Corridors and stairs are dingy with well worn carpets. Our room (number 2) was clean but 'tired' - creaky windows and faded curtains, but whole pub / hotel is scheduled for a full refurbishment next autumn / winter and I look forward to visiting again next year.
The location of the hotel is superb - right at the edge of the harbour in the centre of the village. The room was larger than expected, tastefully decorated with a spectacular view over the harbour and estuary beyond. Breakfast was served at the table and was excellent.
Parking is hit and miss - we arrived on a busy bank holiday weekend and the public car park directly opposite the hotel indicated it was full but we were lucky to get a space as someone left. Had that not been the case it is quite a long walk with luggage to the next car park.
