Location. Quirky rooms. We got an upgraded seaview room.
The TV wasn't a smart TV. Breakfast was a bit disorganised.
The position and parking
The position of the dining room and non existent reception area
Location and views were superb, food also very good
Filthy carpet in room and curtains not hung properly
Okay
Location, good food, friendly helpful staff
Some areas need updated, refreshed, finger marks on doors in communal areas, not a good impression in reception area, mark on pole (table 31) there on arrival still there on departure. Little things matter
Location and view from the breakfast area.
No A/C or heatpump to cool the rooms that retain much of the day's heat (would be great in winter)
For my Mums 90th we were 3 sisters and Mum looking forward to a stay at what we remembered as the gorgeous Art Deco Midland in Morecambe Bay. Sadly the hotel has gone badly downhill. The exterior is in need of a paint job. Inside it is more like a travel inn now with a few remains of its past splendour. The bedrooms we had on the first floor were in sorry need of renovation. Ours was like an Ikea cupboard with the toilet literally in a pull to type cupboard door. Walls and carpets threadbare and uninspiring and a cracked mirror and sticky shower door in the bathroom cupboard! On the plus side we dined there 2 nights and the food was very good. The young serving staff were friendly and efficient. However the new glass lean to overlooking the Bay was like a greenhouse in the sun and we had to move tables to seek shade. We were also awoken at midnight by fire alarms having to go outside in the cold wind in pyjamas particularly unpleasant for my Mum. This turned out to be a fault with a sensor! The alarms then went off again on our second morning at 7.00 am ish and we were told to leave again for a ‘pan fire in the kitchen’. It wasn’t the celebratory stay we had imagined. Ps our purpose in going to Morecambe from London was to visit my Mums elderly brother in a nearby home.
Beautiful art deco features, tasty food for evening meal.
Needs a lick of paint and a sympathetic restoration. No need for IKEA drawers when period furniture is still around (etsy for example). Weekly window clean will halp.
Lovely breakfast. The location is ideal. A quiet area of the seafront with a short pier. Polite and helpful staff
Big comfortable room
Nothing
The room was fabulous. Lovely balcony with a sea view. The weather was very hot but there was a big fan in our room and we kept the balcony door open.
The breakfast was great I had eggs royal and the poached eggs were perfect.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
We both really enjoyed our stay and would love to go back.
Morecambe is a good place to stay.
We visited the Midland last Monday for lunch and had a most relaxing experience.
We found a nice table tucked away in a corner and enjoyed scampi and a lovely seabass dish-the fish was excellent quality.
We finished off with a couple of coffees each and sat for a while enjoying the sight of the splendid and sunny Morecambe bay.
Good food, efficient and friendly staff and gorgeous scenery...what a very nice start to the week!
