They cancelled our accommodation while in line to check in and then told us they were booked out and couldnt find us a place to stay and made us pay for a replacement booking
The hotel is in a great location and offers secure parking at the rear.
Our room was looking out to the rear of the property and it was quite overrun by pigeons. Facilities were a little tired and no wifi in the rooms.
It was right where would you would like to stay. The location is great the outer edifice is really cool and seems like it's spectacular. Then please see the didn't like comments. Beyond that I must say it seemed to be a sought after location people were trying to make bookings there and it was completely full. I'm sure it had rooms that had good views he can pay extra to be on the top floors to get good views well the good view I paid for was almost like looking in an industrial town I saw rooftops of adjoining buildings and smoke stacks it wasn't anything close to what looking out over the rest of the city from if you were in the front part of the hotel looking out. So that's a little bit of false advertisement. But I bet the front views are spectacular. All in all I would say this is on the good end of several of the hotels that I booked throughout touring the highlands of Scotland. It just wasn't stellar
Then you go inside and you realize that everything is outdated. The staff is very nice and comfortable I guess they have a couple function rooms so they might be of the higher and of the area but tough to tell very small elevator and the rooms don't have air conditioning. Plus the parking that they have is GD free for all. They don't have marked parking spots they have people doing crazy anarchy things out back there and it's not paved or it seems like it's not feels like it's like a dirt back there kind of crazy anarchist free for all and it doesn't even allow you access from the parking lot into the hotel you got to walk all the way around the building to get to the front lobby again to either take all of the stairs or the ridiculously slow and small elevator.
Location
This room was so small we had to put our luggage on the bed to move around. The toilet would not flush even after multiple tries with each trip to the bathroom. There was no phone in the room to notify front desk the toilet did not work. One window of the 3 actually opened about a 1” crack at the top for cool air at night. Hands down one of the worst, rock hard, most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in. The pillows were extremely thin and stacked together did not equal a regular hotel pillow. To top it off, there was thick black mold around the bathtub rim. This hotel was not only dated but dirty. 2 outlets, no ports, extremely slow and questionable elevator. This hotel is not a bargain, it was gross. Traveler be wary.
Close to Stirling Castle
Receptionist at check in extremely slow. Parking access required 10 minute drive after we arrived at hotel- no easy access from front of street. Parking lot uneven. Had to park next to garbage cans/ service entrance requiring multiple bells a person on their own would have extreme difficulty getting in Check in process with receptionist painfully slow. Run down. Huge hole in carpet in the undersized elevator. Dirt smudges on hall curtains in 5th floor hallway. Bathroom lock had been “repaired” earlier in day. No phone in room to call front desk. Although the muscular staff person could turn it neither my sister or I could get it to open. Their solution was to prop door open with a door stopper to keep from being locked out so no privacy. No glasses in room to get a drink of water. We set radiators on 4 with help from hotel staff but never got heat. The WiFi only works in common area not in the rooms. Prepaid breakfast charge was more than ordering same day à la carte. Asked to cancel the prepaid breakfasts the night we arrived but as of checkout front desk still had not done that. Food was good and waiters in dining room were excellent but overall experience was not good. It may have once served royalty but is in need I’d seriously cleaning and refurbishment for price charged. Arrangements for accessibility were sadly lacking. Would not stay there again
Good location and easy to get around to explore.
It’s showing a bit of age, and would be better if there were WiFi in the rooms.
The location.
The breakfast was very confusing in its presentation and pricing but Adele the server was very helpful in advising us how not all worked.
