the creaking bed

When we checked in the receptionist was not very helpful.No breakfast time given, no information about the hotel offered no Wifi info provided. When we got to our room iboth windows were wide open (29th Oct) and it was freezing.Radiator in rhe room did not work so had to use the freestanding one. There was no internet connection in the room, which is a pretty basic facilty that should be provided in 2026. The Receptionist said Wifi could only be used in certain areas of tge hotel. Not ideal if you are on a business trip. The bed in the room was hard and uncomfortable and we did not sleep very well. The shower did not work properly and there was no slip mat and very dangerous and therefore Iwe could not take a shower. Despite the room being clean the room was pretty souless. We decided to have a drink in the bar which used to be great but now looks run down firty and has multiple ripped seats. We have been coming to this hotel for the past 12 years and never experienced anything like this.I was informed by some of the disgruntled staff that things have changed since the new owners took over......and quite clearly not for the better. lSad to say but after staying here for the past 12 years we will not be back.

Rooms need updating

The moment you step out of the lobby, you are catfished with an ENTIRELY run down dump. Stains everywhere. Mish mash paint jobs. Peeling paint. Chairs had massive stains. We didn’t take our socks off in the room for a second. The floor/carpet was like a crime scene.

The view we had from our room was not great but that was the nature of the building.

Very uncomfortable beds, no mattress on top of the bed. Odd room layout. Very old and not renovated in a long time. Windows hadn’t been cleaned in the last century.

Het was vies, eerst kregen we een kamer die we niet geboekt hadden, heel klein en vies. Vlekken op de muren badkamer was echt heel erg vies. Spotjes hingen uit het plafond in de badkamer, Levensgevaarlijk. Naar de receptie geweest gevraagd voor een andere kamer, dat was geen probleem. Die kamer was groter maar nog steeds vies, te doen voor 1 nacht maar ik boek dit hotel nooit meer en zou.hem aan niemand aanraden. Bed sliep overigens wel lekker

Room was filthy, stains on the walls, dust and dirt on the sofa. We moved rooms which was slightly better but the bed was uncomfortable. The hotel rooms need money spending on them and better cleaners

Difficult to get to the hotel due to the blocked off roads and one-way streets.

Would've liked a bit of entertainment in the bar

The fire alarm went off 3 times in the night, from 1.45 onwards. A fault we later found out that had also happened a few days earlier. On each occasion we trekked down and back up 3 flights of stairs! Our only reason for staying at this hotel was to rest before continuing our journey to England.

Needs a bit of TLC to upgrade the decoration
