Perfect
Pros:

The upgrade to a large balcony right on the ocean front was a fantastic start to a really enjoyable stay in such a treasure of a hotel. There is nothing you could want for.
Great place to unwind after 2,222km driving a tuktuk around the entire country.

Excellent property needs a little love
Pros:

I love staying at Galle Face but it is also looking run down and in need of upliftment

Cons:

The toilets for guests in the outdoor bar as well as those connected to the 1864 bar were disgustingly dirty and smelly and i couldnt believe how run down they were

If you’re asthmatic or sensitive to musty odour…
Pros:

The beautiful seafront and its amazing sunset

Cons:

1. Better effort can be put in to keep the air vents from the AC free of clumps of dust and thus musty smell. The room we had was a recently renovated room. Other rooms offered were in same or worse off state.

2. The room we had should not be marketed as a seaview room. Half the view was taken up by a huge room and carpark

Brilliant staff and accommodation in a great location.
Pros:

The Galle Face Hotel is a gorgeous place with lots of history. We were made to feel welcome as soon as the car we arrived and had the doors opened. The hotel tour was given by a lovely hostess called Sanjana who despite only being there a short time had a great knowledge of the buildings history. Directed by the customer services manager they did a great job. All of the staff were polite and attentive and I would definitely recommend staying at the Galle Face Hotel.

In one of the older parts of the hotel and we loved the space, the timber furnishings and the feeling that we were experiencing what it must have been like to stay there during colonial times. The staff were exemplary , the ocean side pool and flag lowering ceremony a highlight. There were many dining choices and breakfast on the verandah was fabulous. Sanjana graciously showed us around the hotel and pointed out many historical facts associated with its long history. The hotel can be proud it its endeavours to preserve and celebrate a byegone era while also providing a high degree of comfort to their guests.

The historic architecture and grandeur located on the water is very atmospheric.
Pros:

The property is located on the coast with the water lapping up to the edge of the building. The large sea water pool is wonderful. The buffet breakfast was incredible.

Lovely historical hotel with exceptional breakfast choices. Location ok.
Pros:

Upon checking we were upgraded to a ‘better’ room for our last night of 19 in SL. Thanks to Humaith, Chathuranga and Shanini. Large corner room with a lovely bathroom, great choice of restaurants and very substantial choices for breakfast make this a worthwhile hotel. Its history, decor and surrounds are superb.

Cons:

The room was loud by the ocean and unfortunately with a nearby party was loud with music from 10pm until all hours. The bed was far too firm for my liking.
