Honestly, what I liked most was the vibe of the place—it’s got this amazing mix of old-school charm and comfort. Waking up to the ocean view was such a highlight every day. And the staff were just lovely, super friendly and always ready to help, which made our family stay really easy and enjoyable.

Cons:

there wasn’t much to dislike, if anything, just felt like some areas could use a tiny bit of modern refresh.

Elegante struttura di epoca Coloniale adeguato al comfort e alla contemporaneità
Pros:

Elegante edificio di metà Ottocento situato fronte mare nella zona migliore di Colombo. Tutto perfetto: dalla colazione alle stanze alla comodità dei letti, dai grandi saloni alla sala di lettura e alla biblioteca e soprattutto per la gentilezza e disponbilità del personale. Immersi in un epoca coloniale, sembra di essere tornati indietro di due secoli dove il tempo si è fermato ma non il comfort e la contemporeanità del Galle Face hotel sapientemente mantenuto agli alti livelli che gli competono. Certamente tra le migliori scelte alberghiere di Colombo. Meriterebbe certamente un soggiorno più esteso delle sole due notti trascorse ma c'era il paese reale là fuori da esplorare e scoprire!

A beautiful heritage hotel with an unbeatable location, excellent staff, and a unique old-world charm.
Pros:

It’s in one of the best locations in Colombo. The staff are friendly and attentive. The hotel has some great beachfront bars and restaurants, making it a perfect place to relax. You can really feel the heritage of the property—everything reflects a classic British colonial style, adding a unique charm to the overall experience.

Cons:

However, because of the old design, a few things didn’t work perfectly. The bathroom door lock was faulty, and the lighting system was a bit inconvenient. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay.

Pros:

Stunning hotel. Amazing pool area looking straight out to sea. Gorgeous breakfast buffet. Great room. All of the staff were so kind and helpful. Close to the seafront for an early evening walk with the locals. Highly recommend

I'd say this hotel was quite grand in its day but is now showing signs of its age.
Pros:

The entrance foyer was nice

Cons:

Room was small , furniture was dark and dated, room had faint musty damp smell.
Saw a rat in the restaurant when we were having dinner!

Charged for a cancelled reservation

The location of this hotel is right on the ocean front.

Cons:

I made 2 consecutive reservations and was charged for the most expensive 2nd reservation first, which was cancelled within booking.com's free cancelation window. I was assured by the hotel reception that a refund would be on its way, but was never honored even after attempting to resolve with the hotel multiple times. Hotel staff claimed they could not locate the reservation even when booking.com's customer service inquired on the matter. I do not recommend this place on multiple fronts. The reason for canceling the 2nd reservation was due to a disappointing standard of quality in the room. The reason for this review is their blatant attempt to get away with incorrectly charging a customer. Very disappointed in this place.

Superb Stay with Great Food, Staff, and Location

My family had a superb stay at Galle Face Hotel in Sri Lanka. The food was very good, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was excellent. Overall, they had a wonderful time and would happily recommend it.
