We recently had our wedding at Galle Face Hotel on 14th May 2026, and it was truly a wonderful experience from beginning to end.

From the moment we made the booking and started organizing the event, Ms. Andriea and Mr. Anthony were incredibly supportive, professional, and attentive to every detail. We would also like to sincerely thank the General Manager Mr.Suresh Abbas,Executive Chef Aritha, Banquet Manager Krishantha and Nalin, Pastry Chef Aruna or their great support and kindness throughout the entire process.

A special thank you goes to the kitchen staff and all the department staff who worked so hard to make our wedding beautiful and memorable. Everything was organized perfectly, and we truly appreciated the effort and dedication of the entire team.

All of our guests commented on how delicious the food was and how excellent the service had been throughout the function. The hospitality, professionalism, and warm atmosphere made our special day even more unforgettable.

Thank you once again to everyone at Galle Face Hotel for helping us create such beautiful memories. We highly recommend this hotel for weddings and special events.

I loved the history and ambience

Our family trip to Colombo was made unforgettable by our stay at the historic Galle Face Hotel. From the timeless colonial charm to the breathtaking ocean views, every moment felt special. Situated right on the edge of the Indian Ocean, the location is absolutely stunning. We loved being directly adjacent to the vibrant Galle Face Green, where our family enjoyed evening walks, soaking in the local atmosphere. The hotel is centrally located, making it incredibly easy to explore Colombo's nearby shopping, historic sites, and restaurants, yet it remains a peaceful seaside escape from the bustling city.The absolute highlight of our visit was the exceptional hospitality. A special thank you goes to Ivoni, whose attentiveness and warm professionalism truly elevated our experience. She went above and beyond to ensure our family had everything we needed, making us feel genuinely welcome and cared for throughout our stay.We also looked forward to the morning breakfast buffet at The Verandah Restaurant every day. The spread was incredible, featuring an extensive variety of authentic Sri Lankan delicacies, like fresh live-station hoppers and flavorful curries, alongside excellent Western options. Dining outside while listening to the waves of the Indian Ocean was the perfect way to start the day. Special mention to Shaman Ranaweera’s musical performance. This was an incredibly beautiful and captivating guitar performance. The musician showed absolute mastery over the instrument, blending technical skill with deep emotional expression.

L emplacement et le service

Location was really great.. It has the Sri Lankan heritage atmosphere with lots of photo locations. Rooms were clean and spacious. Service was excellent. Our wedding was also held on Galleface hotel on 23rd April at the Grand Ballroom, Special thanks given to Mr. Niroshana and Mr. Sampath who were assigned for the wedding coordination..Event was really successful all the guests admired the function.

In my review, I will describe the situation you may encounter when staying at this hotel. The hotel staff is not friendly towards guests, and their goal is to extract as much money as possible from tourists. I cannot explain to others why my card was charged a $700 deposit, which was not mentioned in the description on booking.com, before I paid for my room. However, the room rate was significantly lower. The young man whose name is displayed on the badge in the attached photo claimed that this was the hotel's policy. He attempted to charge my card for $700 three times, although the first payment was successful. Naturally, the second time, my card ran out of funds. He shrugged his shoulders and said that my card was damaged. When I asked why I was charged a deposit before I paid for my room, no one could provide an explanation. My bank had blocked the $700 deposit. Later, the same employee assured me that they would contact the bank and resolve the issue. However, four days later, when I was leaving, it became clear that no one would return my deposit. This was the first problem. Additionally, after my luggage was delivered as a single suitcase, three large men from the hotel staff were waiting for me in the hallway, hinting at a tip. They saw that I was upset about the incident at the front desk, but they continued to demand money. I do not recommend this hotel. If you are interested in history, you can visit it as part of a tour. There are other five-star hotels in Colombo that are worth considering. However, this is a topic for a separate review.

We are returning guests . As always the services in all departments have been excellent .

All staff especially the front desk staff and breakfast serving staff are customer friendly and provide a very professional and high standard of services. In particular would like to mention few staff who need special mention for the extra distance they go to serve the guests . From the bfst section. MrAri ( hoppers area) and Ms Natheela . And From Guests Relations Ms Jithara.

I will be staying for another 2 weeks or so. . Arrived on 23 April .

We stayed for two nights at this majestic hotel. It’s grand, elegant and beautiful maintained.
The food was fabulous, and the setting stunning, with marvellous views to the Indian Ocean.
The staff are very kind, courteous and helpful. A special thank you to Juthara for taking us on a heritage tour and showing us all the highlights. We particularly liked the walk down memory lane of all the famous people who have stayed here over the centuries. Also thanks to Gayan, who has been their Bell Boy for over 30 years and goes beyond his duty to make your stay pleasant and memorable.
We would go back and stay in a heartbeat.

This hotel is so wonderful.it’s more than 100years old but everything is perfect.my room is very clean and it have windows of two sides and the view is amazing.the staff is very friendly and everyone has a nice smile.I feel very well.Specially thanks to Mr.Nihal,Dinushi,Jithara who helped me a lot.I highly recommend this beautiful hotel to everyone.
