Very peaceful place with lots to do if you want to.
Pros:

Room was updated and clean. The grounds were in good shape and I saw improvements from the year prior.

Great location for Cades Cove. Lots of positives, but too many negatives.
Pros:

Overall, this is a great place to stay, especially if you're planning to explore Cades Cove. The location is a 10/10. The amenities seem to be excellent: (I say seem to be because we didn't use any of them, but they're there if you want them.) Grills and firepits, a fitness room, and both an indoor and outdoor pool, and a tennis court. And I can't say enough about the front desk staff — they were friendly, helpful, and quick to respond whenever we needed anything.

We booked a small suite with two rooms and a bathroom, and it was wonderfully spacious. Having the sitting room and bedroom separate was a real gift. I'm not a great sleeper and often get up during the night, so being able to slip into another room without waking my husband was lovely. The fireplace was a nice touch, too. We visited in summer and didn't need the heat, but we still let the flames dance at night just for the ambiance.

Now for the not-so-positives. The moment you walk into the room, you're hit with that "welcome to camp" smell — and since I never loved camp, it wasn't the best first impression. That said, I'll take it over an overpowering perfumey air freshener any day, so there's that.

The rooms themselves are pretty sparse — comfortable mostly, but not luxurious by any stretch. I killed two spiders the first day, one of which had clearly been around a while (its web had "dinner remains"). It was tucked in the corner of the bedroom near the bed, and I cleaned it up myself because there was no way I was sleeping with that there. There's also a large rectangular recess beside the fireplace that sits empty and cobwebbed. I have no idea what's supposed to fill it, but the space needs shelves or something — or it should just be filled in.

Lighting was another issue. The living area is DARK. A floor lamp and a table lamp don't do a whole lot. A couple more floor lamps or an overhead light would make a world of difference.

My husband and I both work while traveling — it's just the nature of our jobs, and we can't fully unplug — so the tech problems were a huge inconvenience. We had internet trouble starting the second day. We logged in fine the night we got here, then it wouldn't connect the next day, and I ended up tethering to my phone's hotspot to get work done on my laptop. Same for the hubs. The TVs were their own saga because they run on internet too. They're Roku TVs which it great. Unless the internet isn't working. And it wasn't.

We got the living room TV working, but not the bedroom one, so they sent a maintenance person down to help. He got the bedroom TV going — and then the living room TV went out. I never did get back online with my laptop. First-world problems, I know, but we're in a first world country and when you pay for something, you expect to be able to use it. On top of that, the mini fridge worked fine, but the freezer didn't, and my ice cream sandwiches melted into a gooey mess.

As for breakfast, they serve a "cold" spread — danishes, pastries, cereal, and the like. We skipped it, since we both prefer a hot breakfast, and drove about 15 minutes to Elvira's instead. That turned out to be a great decision — the food there was phenomenal. HIghly recommend the Chicken and Waffles! In the end, the tech and maintenance headaches added up, and we decided to leave a day early. We spent our last night in Pigeon Forge before driving on to Nashville. Definitely the right move.

Bottom line: Would I stay here again? Maybe — but probably only for a Cades Cove trip, and only for a single night. MAYBE. The location is fantastic, the staff seems great, and the suite layout is a real plus, but the sparse rooms, dim lighting, spotty internet, and maintenance issues hold it back. For future trips, I'll base myself in Pigeon Forge or Sevierville and save Townsend for that one Cades Cove night. Or just skip spending the night altogether.

On a side note, I did ask for a refund for the night we were cancelling and they refused. We were going to be leaving at 7:30-8AM and not returning so they could easily clean and rent the place to another person, but they opted out of that. They offered a 35% refund. Whatever. I'll take it, but probably won't be back.

Pros:

It was a nice place and I would stay there again the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Cons:

The room a/c never cut off so I would have to turn it off and on to stay comfortable. The room was a Great size but didn't really like the mattress and the tub & shower was just average but it works.

Pros:

It was adequate in most respects. Appreciated the quiet. Fairly clean and comfortable room.

Cons:

Would have liked a variety of eggs in the breakfast. A laundromat would have been desirable. Given the price, the value proposition was somewhat weak.

Cozy but needs some care
Pros:

We were on the second floor in a family suite so the view was nice from the patio. Rooms were spacious.

Cons:

The outside of the lodge doesn't look well maintained. The stairs going to the second floor were dirty and needed a good pressure wash. Parking wasn't what I would have expected for anything with RESORT in its name. Gutters were noticeable from our patio and they need repair. Trees could use some trimming as well.

Charge supplémentaire
Pros:

Le personnel sur place. Le fait que les chiens soient acceptés.

Cons:

Great place to stay if you’re on a budget and don’t intend to stay in the room very much.
Pros:

The location was great. It was peaceful and relaxing.

Cons:

The rooms are outdated and kind of run down. The toilet seat was broken in our room, the pillows were not great, the only outlets near the bed were behind it, and the bathroom is tiny. The pictures are deceiving about the size.

Unaccessible Vacation
Pros:

Location

Cons:

That the handicap accessible rooms were hidden away at rear of property with no walking trails or access to facilities. Entry door was at the rear of the building next to septic tanks. Not handicap accessible at all!!!

Smokey Mountain Ripoff
Pros:

Close to the Smokies and Cades Cove

Cons:

Rude unhelpful staff, room not very clean for all the 'upgrades' they did. One of the queen beds was broken. Horrible water pressure in shower (both faucets ran at once), paid for garden view but only saw a couple trees with rocks around them - no flowers. Breakfast was not well stocked or very good. Only 5 tables for as large as the property was.
