I enjoyed my nights stay at the Alex Hotel!!
Pros:

The location being close to the train station was perfect for me, an easy 10 minute walk, Plenty of options for dinner were around and despite being in a busier area, the room was really quiet.
The shared kitchen space and mezzanine level is such a great idea, especially being able to go in and maker your own tea or coffee, and having space in a fridge to put things in. I didn't have the breakfast in the morning, but next time I would consider it!

Cons:

There is a bit of hallway noise, but that's more on the people walking down it early in the morning than anything that the hotel can change!!

Cool boutique hotel but VERY noisy at night
Pros:

cool, contemporary decor and overall ambience; central location, friendly staff, good shower and large bed; balcony, the reception bar and and roof top space, breakfast, good quality riding bikes, the (lolly!) snakes at reception!

Cons:

the relentless LOUD live music blaring from the Universal bar across the road until 2am on ALL 3 nights we were there (ear plugs in the room were the giveaway but not enough!)...so ask for a room as high up and faraway as possible from the William street aspect
just 2 hooks to hang clothes from (why not a proper clothes rack?)

Value loaded stay with a luxe adult backpacker vibe.
Pros:

Love the location- landed us in a hub of activity and coolness. With lots of things to do and see. Walked to everything.

Hard to get temperature correct in room.

Pros:

Locations was excellent! In the heart of all the restaurants and bars

The glass door for the bathroom and toilet was weird. Laying in bed you could see the other person on the toilet

Overall it was good. We were happy that we could get the anytime check out due to late flight

It was perfect for a one night stay!
Pros:

Everything! It was minimal style, fresh and clean. Nice view of the city and super quiet. Location was the best, so close to the gig we were attending and heaps of great eating spots. Undercover parking 2 minute walk away and $22 for the night.
