Please note that The Barnstaple Hotel is a busy function hotel and at times has music playing until 01:00 in the function suite. There are times when this can be heard in some garden court and pool view rooms.

Excellent breakfast
We were unable to use the indoor pool. Because the hotel is also a Health club the regular members were in as soon as it opened. We had to leave early so couldn't get in as the pool capacity is only limited.. We always pay more for a pool facility so this was disappointing.
All the staff were amazing especially Freya, but I felt Anya a Manager I believe was rude when Nico was helping me.
Pools were way to hot to swim in and rooms were also too hot, on arrival the curtains were open with windows shut and blazing hot sun in room, was difficult to get room cool to sleep in, but staff did there utmost to make me comfortable. Shower over bathroom was heavy to hold as ive arthritis in both hands and way to powerful pressure was aggressive.
Difficult place to navigate, Sat Nav sent me to the back of Hotel!! Its tucked round behind an industrial site. Doors were too heavy and no auto on entering from car park to reception near stairs , no lifts but I have to say all staff bar one were amazing and very helpful.

The gardens and pools were great. The balconies were a lovely touch. The staff are a delight.
It's very close to the Tarka Trail.
The bed linen is poly-cotton and very itchy.
The lighting on the balcony is on a timer (they go off at midnight) and the room is very bright when the lights are on.
Quirky. Very clean, room was great; couch, plenty of space and storage. Fridge. Excellent breakfast. Lovely staff.

The indoor pool is very relaxing the setting is calming. The outdoor pool is like being Abroad with the sunloungers and parasols. Beautiful . The staff are very helpful at reception. Everyone is polite wherever you are in the hotel.
Nothing that I didn't like. I do think you would benefit more staying here with a car if you wanted to explore surroundings we came by train. We didn't get to the beach its a 20mins bus ride each way We did walk to the centre done some shopping. That 10 mins each way. We were happy to stay by the pools. 😊

Lovely pool nice area
The room was a small and dark corner room with no light and a tiny window, it was suffocating at night so we only stayed 2 night instead of 3, although we paid for 3. The other rooms looked nice though, larger with doors to outside and views.
