None
The inn was unique and the location was great. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The food was very good.
Parking was expensive and not easy to find. They have an agreement with a parking garage a few blocks away but we never did get that discount.
The employees were wonderful!
Dated
Location
Old and tired room. Poor AC. No blackout curtains. Depressing breakfast room.
The location and the friendly staff. Continental-plus breakfast was included.
Building and floors have seen their better days. Somewhat cramped bathroom.
The hotel appeared well kept and clean.
The bed was too hard for my taste.
Posizione
Letto un po’ piccolo per 2 : era una piazza e mezza.
The staff was pretty nice and pleasant
My room was very misrepresented the pictures are definitely retouched online and it does not look like that in person at all. The carpet is frayed and worn the door has water damage and is splitting and peeling at the bottom the room did not smell fresh there was hair on the baseboard of my bed all of the corners were old and raggedy. Definitely not worth $250 a night. This is something I would not have known until I entered the room in person. I prepaid for the room for 3 nights and couldn't get my money refunded even after I checked out after one night. I did not feel comfortable enough to stay there an extra two nights so that was definitely a waste of money I'm very disappointed at that. The staff kept on stating the policy that I prepaid and I chose a not refundable option. But I think that should have been voided since the room was not up to standards. They did give me back $100 but I still basically paid for two nights for nothing. Please don't be deceived by the pleasant looking hotel in the pictures they are filtered. I have true pictures I will post so you know what you're actually getting. If my room was only about 100 through $150 a night it wouldn't be as bad but for the price definitely not worth it. Also the whole bathroom is a shower floor if you know what I mean. I hate that its disgusting. That made the whole bathroom smell wet and musty all night which also made my room smell that way. That explains the Warped water damaged bathroom door
For the first three nights, my primary complaint was the very weak water pressure.
On the fourth night, I returned to the hotel to find a cockroach on the bed. I reported to the front desk, who offered me a different room. I had to inspect all of my belongings and move them to a different room between 11pm and midnight, and had to inspect the new room. I got very little sleep and had a long flight the next day. I remain paranoid I may have brought insects back in my luggage. (As proof, I have included in this review a photo of a cockroach under an Alexander Inn branded glass, on top of an Alexander Inn branded drinks coaster - I would prefer not to have to share this, but the situation was not dealt with appropriately).
When I checked out the next morning, I asked to speak to management, but was told they were not present (at 11am on a Monday). I was offered a $50 partial refund off one night of my stay (I paid over $230 a night for four nights). The fact that the response to vermin in the room is a discount of less than 25% of one night suggests the hotel either do not care about cleanliness, or this happens a lot and they can't afford all the refunds.
Do not stay here, it is not worth the stress. The price is low, but prioritise the peace of mind of staying somewhere clean and hygienic, which takes pest control seriously and responds appropriately and apologetically puts things right when this fails.
My daughter and I had a wonderful two night stay. The hotel was extremely clean, bed was comfortable, and the staff kind and helpful. The location was great as well and we walked to many places in the area which was nice since we didn’t have a car. Will definitely stay here again when we are back in the area.
We booked online, and our expectations, based on the photos that we had seen, were met or exceeded. We arrived early, but got a room well before the official check-in time, and the well-equipped room looked just like the photos. The building is old, but well maintained. (We weren't expecting a heat wave in May, but we had no complaints about the air conditioning.) The staff is uniformly excellent. Front-desk personnel were always friendly and helpful, from check in to check out. (We'll name Dresden here specifically because we had a long chat with her on the day we checked out, but everyone we dealt with was terrific.) Even the maintenance workers and housekeepers were cheerful and friendly. Staff at breakfast and afternoon wine-and-cheese gatherings were unfailingly helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was basic but more than adequate, with make-your-own waffles, hard-boiled eggs, yogurts, cereals, the usual breads and bagels, juices, and good coffee. The location is great. Easy walk to Rittenhouse Square. Lots of nice restaurants nearby. And nearby SEPTA busses make getting anywhere easy.
We'll certainly plan to stay here again on our next trip to Philadelphia.
Great location. Relaxed atmosphere and nice vibe. I liked the art on the walls and in the room. I liked that you could open the windows.
The shower could have worked better.
Das Hotel könnte mal wieder ein wenig renoviert werden.
