Shower hard to regulate the temperature but was ok
A hotel that doesn't serve any food! At least here's a very nice fish and chip shop (not affiliated) across the market square. A few other hotels within walking distance that do. Free parking, as long as you're not wanting to leave your car in the free parking during a market dat (Two days a week.)
Unfortunately upon arrival, I found a full bin in the toilet which I took to the reception where I received a profound apology. I later discovered after stirring my first cup of tea, that the teaspoon I used had been used previously for something else, yogurt perhaps, and not washed.
The ceiling light in the vestibule needs some attention as it blinks on and off all the time the main light is on. To keep the window open for a little ventilation I had to prop it with cleanish mug which did that job better than my sensibilities would allow me to drink from. A very comfortable bed but the frame does squeak if you move at all!
I tried to email and telephone the hotel to resolve these issues but after two weeks I have not even had an acknowledgement of my enquiries. It's under new "management" I wished to let them know of the problems instead of giving them a bad review. I'm hopeful that these are merely teething troubles relating to room 202 and not endemic in the rest of the establishment.
Lovely large room. Comfortable bed. Ensuite shower room. Tea and coffee making. Very clean. Helpful and friendly staff. Great value for money. Good location. Be aware about stairs to rooms if you have any mobility issues. Highly recommended as somewhere to stay in Alford.
Bedside tables needed dusting. It's a shame there's no food on site. Well stocked bar though. Cafés for food within walking distance and also hotel happy to lend plates and cutlery if we wanted takeaway.
Cleanliness
the staff were lovely so friendly, they carried our luggage for us because I could not cope with stairs, nothing was to much trouble, they were so helpful. room was clean and comfortable, we had a lovely stay, would highly recommend them. l booked the room for my father and partner, this is what their experience was .

The location (close to Cadwell Park race track) and large free car park directly outside were good. The bedroom was a bit dated but clean.
The bathroom wasn’t very clean. The shower only had 8 jets working and alternated between freezing and scalding. The water ran out from under the shower door soaking the floor. We spoke to reception who said ‘you know what the plumbings like in these old buildings. I don’t really have any clout around here so put your comments online’ which wasn’t a great response to get.
We liked the staff was friendly and room was spacious family room, there was a garden and bar room was comfortable would revisit

Spacious rooms which were clean.
We had 2 rooms as there was 7 of us.
Both rooms the beds were comfy, loved the white bedding, all towels etc.
Didn’t have anything I didn’t like.
A very comfortable stay.
Superb bay window room. Comfortable bed. Spacious room with comfortable chairs. Good LIGHTING, so many hotel rooms have inadequate illumination.
Shame not to have breakfast on site. Fortunately, adequate cafe nearby.
